Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2 for PlayStation 2 is not really one of the best hunting games.

You will travel the globe hunting some of the worlds deadliest game as a professional hunter who at one time was a member of a group known as Wilderness Rescue, a group of hunters who protect people from dangerous animals all over the world. In Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2 your pretty much searching for an old friend with the help of several guides from natives to fellow hunters. The overall design of Dangerous Hunts 2 is pretty much an arcade shooter with a hunting theme. Most of the game will be from point A to B using a small variety of weapons such as handguns, bows, blowguns, tranquilizer rifles and so on.

The level design is hideous. A lot of the time you will get lost in the environment trying to figure out which way you need to go exactly to get to your objective. To top that, you'll also have to avoid traps laying around and a few snakes that litter all over the tighter areas of the path. Bees also make an appearance as one of the most annoying things you'll run into while exploring the terrain. You'll learn right away that shooting the nests from a distance is your best bet to avoid slowdown.

One of the minor features of Dangerous Hunts 2 is with the bonus levels, smaller arcade style survival maps that you unlock from destroying several stumps in each level of the story mode. Some of the stumps are fairly easy to spot while other ones are just seer luck as to whether you'll find them or not. The bonus maps may be cool to survival mode fans but they are mostly minor and don't really reflect much to the overall experience in Dangerous Hunts 2.

The audio in Dangerous Hunts 2, such as the sounds that animals make and guns are fairly spot on but not very impressive. You'll most likely go through the whole game without being awed by the wonders of a gunshot echoing across a lake. Music is not really that great outside of ambience which is alright but listening to the sounds of nature would be more interesting.

What it all boils down to is a normal arcade shooter with nothing new but also nothing bad. It'll make a good rental if you want something to tie you over for the weekend or in a bargain bin at your local used game store but that's about it.
