beatiful graphics (for a nes game) great sound and simple mechanic that combines coin collecting and powerups

User Rating: 9.2 | Felix the Cat NES
this is one of those truly great licensed property games, right up there with Goldeneye and Astro Boy omega factor. felix the cat is a simple but fun and beatiful platformer. first the graphics. quite frankly this doesnt look like an nes game. yes it came out near the end of the nes lifecycle but the graphics are amazing. the music sounds good. the main gameplay mechanic is simple but offers variety. collect 5 tokens to drop three milk bottles that add points. collect 5 more to get a heart that powers you up, first to a top hat wearing felix who surronds himself with stars, then to a car that uses a horn to nail enemies and finally a tank. but those are the land forms. the forms change depending on whether your in the air, or in or under water. the only real complaint is that it is kinda on the short and easy side. yea it has a few toough areas but like a lot of platformers you will have plenty of lives to use up. and you will want to play it again and again espiecally if your fan of the cartoon character, which i am. overall it does what a platformer should do, provide kids with a way to kill an hour or so but also be fun for people of any age
