Obviously this isn't my main account. Not five minutes ago I posted my second-ever forum post, a fairly innocent question about how to route a gaming headset to a TV monitor and PC at the same time for streaming, and was almost immediately banned. No profanity, hate speech, or anything. Only thing I can think of is maybe the Games Discussion board wasn't the best place to post that, but is that really grounds for banning me? There are no ways to appeal it either, just banned instantly with no email or mod PM option. What's up, Gamespot?

Moving to Ask The Mods, which is the forum we have set up specifically for questions like this. Normally, we go by a three strike system for infractions. However, we also have automated spam protection to assist with the deleting of spam accounts. One of your posts tripped the automatic protection, which results in an instant ban and deleting of all posts. I've restored your other account and left the problem post deleted. Until you have a few more posts under your belt, avoid posting links to sites like eBay as it looks spammy to our filter.

@Byshop: Thanks! That makes sense - I didn't realize that's what did it. Is it just shadier sites like eBay, or do all shopping links trip it up (more reliable ones like best Buy, Amazon, etc.)?

I'd avoid off-site links in general until you've been here for a bit. Some sites look spammier than others but once you're an established user who has been here a while and has some posts under their belt you should be fine. Unfortunately I can't get into any specifics regarding how our spam protection works as the spammers are always listening...
