Russia has 8 of these left now.

Now confirmed from both sides, another $300,000,000 Russian A-50 aircraft is destroyed, the second in 3 months.

Peace would be nice. But hard to believe Putin would be for it. Him being a big bad stick in the mud that he is.

Literally everyone in existence as that's how all wars generally end.

The difference is your peace deal, and generally speaking, all MAGAS is "let Russia win", which isn't a deal. Wanted Russia to win from the start and done everything humanly possible to demonize Ukriane.

Hungary finally lets Sweden into the military alliance, dealing a blow to Russia.

BUDAPEST — At last, Sweden will get to join NATO.

Sweden cleared the final hurdle to become the military alliance's 32nd member after Hungary — the last holdout among the countries — held a parliamentary vote to approve the move.

In recent years, Russia's invasion of Ukraine pushed Sweden away from its decades of military non-alignment and towards the world's biggest military alliance. Sweden’s accession comes amid increasing uncertainty over NATO’s future, as the Republican frontrunner in the U.S. presidential race, Donald Trump, threatens to abandon security guarantees for at least part of Europe.

Budapest finally made the move on Monday, with the parliament voting 188 to 6 votes in favor of the resolution.

Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who has maintained contact with Russia’s Putin in defiance of Western pressure, withheld approval of Sweden's bid for more than 600 days.

Now, all existing NATO allies have now ratified the membership status of Sweden. A flag-raising ceremony is expected at NATO headquarters in Brussels later this week, less than a year after fellow Nordic country Finland joined the alliance.

Orbán gave his final nod just before the weekend, when his Swedish counterpart, Ulf Kristersson, flew to Budapest and signed a defense deal following years of what Orbán called "damned" relations over human rights and the rule of law in his increasingly politically repressive country.

For now, Russia is the biggest loser of Sweden joining NATO.

Moscow has threatened Sweden and Finland since both countries decided to turn toward NATO. Since the two Nordic countries began the process to join the alliance, the West has tightened its grip on the Baltic Sea, complicating a vital transit route for the Russian navy.

The Russian embassy in Stockholm called Sweden "a legitimate target for Russia’s retaliatory measures" last year, while Finland closed the border with Russia after finding "systematic" and "organized" efforts by the Russian authorities to send African migrants into Finnish territories.

Kristersson called it a “historic day.”

“The parliaments of all NATO member states have now voted in favor of Swedish accession to NATO. Sweden stands ready to shoulder its responsibility for Euro-Atlantic security,” Kristersson said.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed the Hungarian parliament’s vote, saying: “Sweden’s membership will make us all stronger and safer.”

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said all allies would benefit from Sweden’s membership. “It is good that the Hungarian parliament approved Sweden’s accession today,” Scholz said.

Good, this is what you want. That many people protesting that the police can't just smash them up.

Still, highly nothing will come of this.

Recently been reading that Putin seems more secure in winning the war in Ukraine.

I kinda wish Europe would step up more in supporting Ukraine. Memory might be wrong here, but weren't Ukraine getting F-16? Hopefully when training is done, they manage to put them to good use.

@horgen: Def in a dire straight, blocked aid, blocked aid, blocked aid. MAGAS are doing their best to ensure Russia win.

Worth noting though, they haven't actually taken much of anything still. Essentially a couple of kilometers, which as Jake Broe points out, you could jog in a day. Avdiivka itself isn't strategically important in the military sense, it's important for Putin, for his upcoming election to say "ah, look at what we have done", and even then, they are probably overestimating Russia' enthusiasm. A shit ton of meat waves died, to make him look good. So, well done. Enjoy being dead.

From watching stuff get the jist the general strategy Russia has is simply keep at it, and wait till we fail. Their fascism where they have a country in lockdown, control all media and have a singular leader for decades to exploit people like cattle to prevail until it's done and dusted.

VS democracy where we swap leader, allowing alternate opinions, which they exploit to the max and specifically MAGAS grow like a cancer. Betting on the card castle flopping.

Lately, he's been getting proven right. "Evil Will Always Triumph, Because Good Is Dumb" as the quote of our time goes.

Although MTG disproves that as well.

The Czech Republic found almost a million shells for Ukraine

AmmunitionArtilleryCzech RepublicEuropeMilitary assistanceUkraineWar with RussiaWorld

The Czech Republic has found about 800,000 artillery shells of NATO and Soviet-era caliber that can be shipped to Ukraine in a few weeks.

However, for this, funding must be secured quickly.

Czech President Petr Pavel stated this during a debate at the Munich Security Conference.

According to the Czech President, the country’s representatives managed to find about 500,000 155-mm artillery shells and 300,000 122-mm shells abroad.

He added that they could be transported to Ukraine in a matter of weeks if funding is secured quickly.

Petr Pavel noted that the Czech Republic will turn to partners from the United States, Germany, Sweden, and other countries that can contribute to these efforts.

However, he did not specify in which countries these hundreds of thousands of artillery munitions, which Ukraine needs to repel Russian aggression, are located.

The Czech President also added that the Czech Republic is currently searching for weapons and equipment around the world and is working with NATO partners in this field.

The Czech Republic previously offered the European Union to purchase artillery ammunition for Ukraine outside its borders.

The media discovered that the Czech government proposed to purchase about 450,000 rounds of ammunition from non-European suppliers.

This statement was made amid the failure of the plan to supply ammunition for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In January of this year, the Czech Republic and Denmark signed a defense cooperation agreement, emphasizing their commitment to ensure upcoming military aid packages for Ukraine.

Wearing a Kim Jong-Un-style tunic, Dmitry Medvedev says "Ukraine is definitely Russia" and shows off a map of what he thinks should be left of Ukraine. Spoiler: not much! "Our geostrategic space has been indivisible since the time of the ancient Russian state," he says.

These 9 House Republicans voted against a resolution condemning the Russian abduction of Ukrainian children

On Tuesday, the House overwhelmingly passed a resolution to condemn Russia's abduction of Ukrainian children in the two years since the war began.

Nine Republicans voted against the resolution.

Sponsored by Democratic Rep. Susan Wild of Pennsylvania, the resolution holds the Russian government "responsible for the wrongful and illegal kidnapping of children from Ukraine" and states that doing so "amounts to genocide."

The resolution passed the House Foreign Affairs Committee in a unanimous 44-0 vote in November.

Since the February 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, thousands of children have been abducted and taken into Russia, and it's unclear what's happening to them.

Russian officials have claimed that they're merely "saving" the children and that accusations of forcible abductions are a smear.

The Republican votes against the resolution come as most of the party has gradually turned against providing further US military aid to the besieged eastern European country.

Most Republican senators voted against a $93.5 billion aid package that includes more than $60 billion for the Ukraine war effort, and House Speaker Mike Johnson has thus far refused to hold a vote on the package, in part owing to fears that doing so could turn hard-right Republicans in his own conference against him.

Meanwhile, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has promoted Russia's image via a recent trip to Moscow, including an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin that even some GOP lawmakers tuned into.

Here are the 9 Republicans who voted against the resolution:

  • Andy Biggs of Arizona
  • Eric Burlison of Missouri
  • Warren Davidson of Ohio
  • Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia
  • Clay Higgins of Louisiana
  • Thomas Massie of Kentucky
  • Matt Rosendale of Montana
  • Chip Roy of Texas
  • Tom Tiffany of Wisconsin

Marjorie Traitor Greene is trying to remove Speaker Johnson for passing a budget and keeping the government open. Nobody knows what is going to happen next, but there is a good chance in all this chaos that a vote for Ukraine aid could happen as a result of what MTG has done.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine says that the current terrorist attack in the Moscow region is a deliberate provocation by the Putin regime, which the international community has warned about. Tbe fire wasn't put out for at least one hour, because first responders were waiting for special force teams to arrive. This is abnormal for Moscow city and the region. That happens only when a terrorist attack is planned by those who give orders to the special forces.

More readily beleive this. Ukriane doing this counter-productive The mere act would risk the West turning on them and denying vital resources they require.

Putin on the other hand needs to shake the Russian population out of apathy if he wants mobilization. A dramatic events that foments hate, well, that's perfect.

But again, not calling anything, just more likely to lean on Putin.

There are conflicting claims over who is responsible for the Moscow attack:

  • Ukrainians
  • ISIS
  • America or Israel
  • Russian inside job

The jury is still out on this one.

ISIS have claimed responsibility.

They've been trying to spin this hard.

To be honest, if true this is surprising, I was expecting Putin to have done this.

He's orchestrated murders and terrorist attacks multiple times. Including here on UK soil with with chemical and radiative weapons. Let alone blowing up Wagner heads last year.

Didn't the US informed recently that a large ISIS attack was imminent in Moscow? I thought the Russian pos was on top if this, to be honest. But I'm interested to see how will he spin this to avoid responsibility for such a huge **** up.

I just find sad that these groups choose to attack civilians instead of those in power. Had it been Putin and his entourage, maybe Tucker as a bonus too, I would be opening a bottle of champagne. But this is just sad.

Putin STILL thinks the attacks are Ukrainian when they weren't.

He's going to pull a page from Netanyahu's book, isn't he? Except, the voices for Ukraine won't be as loud this time. Not after 10/7.

Ukraine has been hitting Russia for months. With drones on infrastructure, oil production. The only ones who have been deliberately killing civilians in a loop (with help with MAGA now) is Russia.

1999 was a good year for Putin.

They misread what they were told, and "three sims" was read as "The Sims".

Maybe Trump shouldn't have backstabbed Kurds and murdered Soleimani. Both were key players in fight against ISIS.
