@GazaAli: I thought you'd get pissed but uh ..ok.
I'm never pissed
there are so many anime's I could recommend... instead I will just tell you one to stay away from. GANTZ. It was the only anime I've ever watched that actually was making me want to scream at it while watching. I kept watching till the end because the premise was interesting and I wanted to see where it was going.
It's pacing is beyond slow, the characters are all unlikable, it's hyper sexualized to the point you think a 12 year old must have written it, and there is never a pay off... you don't see where any of it is going, it just all ends with you not knowing anymore than you knew in the first episode.
Judging by the comments, it seems like no one has told you about Gundams Anime series that you might like so here is my Gundam Recommendation.
Mobile Suit Gundam, [the first one really shown it's age but it's still classic to watch] Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team, Mobile Suit Gundam: Stardust Memories, G Gundam, Gundam Seed, [don't watch Gundam Seed Destiny, it's terrible] and Gundam 00.
The only Gundam series I have yet to watch is Gundam Unicorn only because I'm still waiting for the complete DVD set but I do know that it takes place after from the movie, Char's Counterattack and that's all I know from that. That said, hope you enjoy Gundam series and this is coming from a guy who has played good Gundam games back in the old days.
Dunno why ....i hate anime ! seriously don't know why mature ppl watch anime....
I think its safe to say that people of all ages watch anime for different reasons. There is really something for everyone there. For instance, and in my humble opinion, you haven't known the fantasy genre until you watched anime or read manga. When it comes to imagination you got to leave it to the Japanese; they really put western fantasy to shame. I find myself inclined to point and laugh when I see people raving about some western fantasy work.
What most people don't know about anime is that it is the Japanese' equivalent of the movie industry elsewhere such as in the U.S. That is to say that its the main medium for creativity and expression. I remember reading long ago how anime started after WWII as part of rebuilding Japan and contributing to its reintroduction/reintegration to/into the world. The Japanese wanted to have a movie industry of their own but believed themselves not to be photogenic enough compared to their western counterparts with their big blue eyes and their white, fare skin. They took refuge in animation. All of this can be observed in the disproportionately large eyes of earlier anime characters and their lavish coloration. Those with no substantial experience with anime tend to completely overlook this fact and thus look at anime as Japanese cartoons which leads them to say "I don't know why mature people watch anime".
Thanks for the comprehensive explanations.
I'm sold ! hands down ! ...
Gotta give it a shot ...
Would you guys like a stickied anime discussion thread?
Yes that would be helpful. BranKetra talk about giving such an Anime discussion sticky thread so I suppose you could talk to him about it. [And no, I don't consider myself an Otaku]
Anyways, what is your favorite anime of this season?
Mine is Parasyte;The maxim.
Been meaning to watch that, but decided to postpone picking it up till it finishes airing.
As for your question, I don't keep up with new releases be it in anime or TV shows, although I might do that occasionally with the latter.
Here is a quick review of anime in 2014 part 1 from my favorite anime reviewer Gigguk.

What do you mean season? This winter?
Well, all I know is, there are two seasons for anime ; spring and fall. The anime released in spring drag on until fall and the fall releases drag on till the next spring... or maybe it's something, honestly, don't care about it.
Most of the anime this year was pretty disappointing, only a few like Parasyte were worth checking out.
I don't think anyone has mentioned this anime yet, guess I'll list it, as to me it seems like it should be a good anime recommendation:
FullMetal Alchemist
FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

FMA:B is a good recommendation. Not exactly what he's looking for but it's still a masterpiece.

You don't have to recommend it specifically to me anymore, it's a general discussion thread now remember? :P
I haven't been in the mood for anime lately(nor do I have ample free time to watch). Still need to see the final 6 episodes of SAO 2. And continue Code Geass 2, Guilty Crown and Cowboy Bebop - I put them on hold after the first few eps.
guilty crown is just a waste of time. it seemed to me like the protAgonist dont know what he wants to do and the chracterization was slacky as hell.
CG2 is great and for CB i'm also planning to watch it ....
Two friends of mine very strongly recommended to me Guilty Crown so I decided to watch it to see what the fuss is all about. I'll need more than 2 episodes to judge it myself. So far though I'm not particularly impressed.
If you would want to watch horror-themed Seinen animes, I would recommend Higurashi no naku koro ni ( also known as When Cicadas Cry), Another,Mirai Nikki, and High School of the Dead, Red Garden, and Kara no Kyoukai.
If you're into tear jerker, Shônen animes, I would recommend AnoHana, Nagi no Asukara, Angel Beats! and Clannad.
If you dig gory Shônen animes, then Tokyo Ghoul, Sei no Kakuritsu (aka Parasite : The Maxim) and Shingeki no Kyoujin are up your alley.
Started watching Katekyo Hitman Reborn. Have no idea what the hell is going on. :(
That's how I felt when I first watched Serial Experiments Lain.
Have any of you seen angel beats? Watching it now and I'm liking it so far.
You're liking it? Wow I have to say I'm surprised. I'd say that's pretty hardcore otaku stuff and even after years of watching anime I couldn't sit through the first episode when I attempted to pick it up two weeks ago. Not my cup of tea whatsoever.
But really, I'm impressed :3
In other news I finished watching Haibane Renmei today and the verdict: not all that impressed really. It was nice enough though at times it becomes so sweet your teeth might fall off. It has certain cringe-inducing elements but I guess they remain within measure. As I was watching the last few episodes I made up my mind that I'd give the show 7-8 if they revealed what's behind the walls and what happens to those who take the flight, and 5 otherwise. Guess what, it received a 5.

It's hardcore otaku stuff that's sometimes really good. I would say Angel Beats>Clannad AfterStory because of the characters. Don't give up on the first episode. Or the first seven episodes for that matter. It's good or it gets good. Though don't forget to brace for impact on the 9th episode.
I'd figure this would be a good thread to post this its my top 10 anime list not in any particular order just Anime I enjoyed alot across different genre's there's alot of other anime I really enjoyed besides these ten but I picked what I think examples the best of the best for that type of genres in anime.

I dropped it after a couple of episodes as well didn't really engage me that well and seemed like my better spent watching some other anime but maybe it got better later on idk I only watched up to like episode 7.

It only gets worse. It's one of those typical High School-fantasy anime.
