@madsnakehhh: I meant Saint Seiya
@johnd13: Made the mistake of start watching Fate Zero after dinner now it's 4am and I'm binge watching...it got epic/tense/addictive really quickly...it's like they just went all out after the first episode...worried that I should have started with Stay/Night first in case it isn't as great as Zero.
@korvus: I'm glad you liked it. :) I was pleasantly surprised by the number of fascinating characters and the excellent pacing. Now need to start the 2nd season.
Without having watched Stay/Night and based on the ratings on MAL, I think that Fate Zero is indeed a lot better than Stay/Night. In fact, I don't have high on my priority list watching the latter.
@johnd13: I like shows that just get right into it instead of dragging it for 30 episodes to reach the 64ep count...
@madsnakehhh: I meant Saint Seiya
You might want to avoid the original manga, is pretty easy to find...but kind of dated, so you definitely have to go with the original Anime, but keep in mind that is an 80's anime so it will feel dated as well (not as much as the manga), but still worth to watch IMO, the first season is as usual pretty slow but introduces you to the basic elements of the plot, second season is more action oriented but not as relevant aside from a few episodes (like the battle with Perseus Algol), after that it comes the most famous saga, the Sanctuary Saga and it is amazing...with so many memorable moments and battles, that's a must watch if you want to get into Saint Seiya.
Then it comes the Asgard Saga which i really love but it might feel like filler (well is actually filler since is not on the original manga, but it was pretty good IMO), last saga of the original series is against Poseidon, which is not bad...but IMO it was the weaker of the last 3, if you don't want to watch every chapter from the original series...personally i would recommend you the First Season, Sanctuary Saga and the Asgard Saga.
They didn't released the last part of the manga on Anime until much later with the Hades Saga which is divided in 3, Chapter Sanctury which is the best saga since the original Sanctuary Saga, the Hell Chapter which it is ok but definitely weaker and the Elysium Chapter which it was...sadly, pretty bad but they were only like 6 episodes, this is also a must watch since it was the ending of the original story.
There are 5 OVAs which are meh...they have some moments but they are not that great, you could skip them with the exception of the last one because it's canon and it will be important as far as i know and it's also arguably the best of the OVA's.
From there, you are good to go with the new series, Soul of Gold.
There are some spin offs that i didn't like it...i mean Omega and Next Dimension were...pretty bad...if you want a good spin off check out Lost Canvas, that was amazing but the Anime never finished the story, so you need to get the manga, but trust me, it was pretty good.
@dylandr: Maybe those guys who make all those weapons from games...what were their names again?...
Oh yeah, Man At Arms.
@dylandr: True. Not sure who can make those on this side of the pond. You can always get it from Japan but there's water on that side too =P
So I'm one episode away from finishing Nichijou (that took long enough). Next I'm starting Gingitsune, which seems like a nice laid-back anime. Usually, I watch two shows simultaneously; a "serious" one for when I'm in the mood for something dense, and a laid-back one for when I'm in the mood for relaxation. But now that I think about it, I've been mainly watching slice-of-life comedies lately. I ought to find my next blockbuster as I'm putting Sidonia no Kishi on retainer for now.
RWBY, not an anime tho.
It's not any good either.
Anyway, I finished up both the Persona 4 animations (original and Golden), the original was okay but Golden fell rather short, disappointing. I also been watching Kekkai Sensen, it's rather slow paced but I'm enjoying it nonetheless.
UGH, One Piece is so perfect
Caught up to all the episodes? The new world stuff is underwhelming and I think its high time for Oda to start wrapping up the story.
Hey @GazaAli, Sheikhspeare sends you a message from the beyond:
I finished Gankutsuou And I have to say it was worth the time. Apart from the wuss MC and a few poor characters here and there, it was a worthwhile journey. The visuals were the best thing about this anime. And the plot.
I'd give it a 8/10
PS. Aoi Bungaku is even better

I take it he can't post here anymore-such a shame.
If you would be indulgent johnd and deliver the reply along your way: I'm glad you liked it. The visuals were indeed one of the show's virtues as they were unique and absurdly lavish at times, though I disagree that the cast suffered. That's not to say that all characters were well-developed and endowed with depth, but the cast as a fabric was tight, fitted the plot well and served the motif adequately. So while some characters were objectively lacking, they all felicitously coalesced at the end.
None of that matters (not to me least) seeing how the anime's merits were the settings, the music and above all the antagonist; the Count was sensational and his nemeses were menaces. I kept replaying many of his scenes several times before moving on and I got back to them after finishing their respective episodes just as many.
Personally I'd give it 8.5-9/10. One entirely unforeseen consequence of watching this anime is that now I really want a cane of my own.
P.S: I'm yet to finish Aoi Bungaku..
I have a question. How do you enjoy anime with the camera pans and low budget animation. How do you look past that? I'm having trouble enjoying anime because it's rather slow and has many still frames. What are some ways I can enjoy it?
I used to enjoy it so much when I was a kid.
Ok guys, since you've been asking, now's your chance...if you want a whole board just for anime chat now is your chance, go vote.
For those of you who love Dragon Ball/Z/GT, there's going to be a new Dragon Ball series call Dragon Ball Super for those who are interested.

Sadly no announcements for the West as of yet when it will air.
Been ripping through Studio Ghibli movies. Can anybody suggest some movies of the same caliber I should be putting on my list?
"The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" was quite good. As was Ghost in the Shell Arise (1), Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike and Hotarubi no Mori e.
However, they don't have the 'all ages, many layers' charm of Ghibli Movies. To be honest, Ghibli is in a whole another dimension away from anything I've seen so far.

I thought Colorful was quite good.
So anyone can recomend me a shonen anime?
hunter x hunter 2011
anything else you can recomend?
@The_Last_Ride: Jojo's Bizarre Adventures, the 2012 series. Quite possibly the best ongoing shonen anime worth watching.

Would've recommended those mainstream shonens like naruto, bleach and one piece but they drag on with too much filler episodes.

I very rarely watch Shonen now except for JoJo, though I remember One Piece being really entertaining when I used to watch it back then.

i know DBZ, Bleach, One Piece are all shonen
@The_Last_Ride: Don't watch Bleach though, it went to shit pretty much after the second arc.
i watched it all the way, i loved it

Are you crazy? Oda barely scratched the surface of One Piece.
I say it'll continue for another 15 years.
Luffy is just now fighting a Warlord... he hasn't even matched up to an Emperor. Big Mom is about to meet with Sanji & Co at Zou which most likely will be the next big arc after Dressrosa.... OR we'll right into an arc focusing on Kaido(which I hope happens), either way the tension and suspense is going to be built up dramatically with all the new information we've been shown since the Strawhats entered the New World. Gear 4th is just the tip of the iceberg. Usopp just got observation Haki so I'm sure Chopper and Nami will be getting some new tech for the upcoming battles. We haven't see Sanji or Zoro go all out, which I know they're getting saved for the bigger threats.
I'm very excited since Dressrosa's arc started. Everything has just been getting better and better in the world of One Piece. It's for a more patient reader... so I can understand if some people are just clamoring for the next fight/progression...
Some of my friends watch an anime called jormungand, can anyone fill me in about it?
Jormungand: The series follows Koko Hekmatyar, a young arms dealer who sells weapons under HCLI, an international shipping corporation that secretly deals in the arms trade. As one of the company's unofficial weapon dealers, she secretly sells weapons in many countries while avoiding the local authorities and law enforcement agencies as most of her work is actually illegal under international law. Traveling with her is her team of bodyguards who are mostly composed of ex-military veterans. Her latest addition to her crew is Jonah, a seemingly emotionless child soldier who is skilled in combat yet ironically hates arms dealers. What follows is Koko and her crew's escapades around the world.
In other words, I got this info when I go to my Anime community [which is pretty much my avatars comes from] and this is what Jormungard is all about.

It's a great anime. Takes time to pick up but once it does, its a roller coaster.
I recently picked up a short anime called Karas. It's a 6 episodes OVA with no further installments. I have to say it exceeded all my expectations; I never thought it'd turn out to be that awesome; its originality got me reminiscing about the thrill of my early anime days.
The atmosphere is unsettling, and the unusual animation style blends just right with it. The fighting scenes are such a rush, and that's saying something considering it's coming from someone who usually doesn't pay attention to that element. While the overall story isn't unprecedented, it's still a fresh rendition of common tropes that has it's fair share of originality. I still enjoyed the limited OST as it bolstered the feel of the anime.
The show averages at 7.5, though I gave it a 9 myself. I'd love for someone else to watch it and come back to me with his own rating and verdict. I have @Gamerno6666 and @gwynnblade in mind but everyone is invited.
