I am buying Wii for my girlfriend.  So I got a few decisions to make.

1.  Will she like Wii Sports?  Do chicks dig it?

2.  I don't want a wireless network and plan on buying the lan usb adaptor.  However, there is no online games and I could care less for the retro games (i have them already).  Is there any other reason to go online with your wii at the moment, other then just downloading old games?

she might like wii sports. It's simple and fun.

And there are a couple of thing to do online. you might want the forecast and news channels. If you don't, then just wait for some online games to be released

1. yes, chicks dig wii sports...from what I've seen.

2. another reason to get online are the wii channels (which I personally think is pretty cool). other then that, online isn't really needed right now

News channel is pretty cool. Weather channel is only cool because you can spin the earth and stop it and see what the temperature is in (enter random place here). Also... Virtual Console games? How can that not have entered your brain? Some seriously good titles have been released, and more to come.. Everyone likes Wii sports, save those that can't figure it out. For awhile, my girlfriend was better than me... so, I practiced a bit, and am now unstoppable.

1. Yes. Wii Sports is for everyone.

2. You won't get the updates, you can't use the news, internet, or weather channel, and if any game has WiiConnect24 (like Elebits) then you won't be able to get/send stuff to people that's in your/their game.

1.  dumb question....    it matters not if shes female....    it matters what kind of games she likes....  I know girls who cant stand wii sports..  I know others that have fallen in love with it.

2.  yes, many reasons, including weather, news internet channel, system updates, there may always be retro games you missed, communication, and so when there are online games, you arent scrambling to find the adapter or running out to buy a new router.

If the Wii is really for your gf, then you should download the retro Mario games.

you don't need to be a fanboy to answer you. in fact if you wanted good answers you would have just left the fanboy part out. but you don't like the wii so that's why you're doing it. 1. chicks dig it. go play with her. and don't be surprised if she beats you sometimes. 2. nothing you can't do on a pc. (except mii parades and messaging) just wait on buying the adaptor till there are games that are online.

if you zoom all the way out on the weather channel you can see the stars. those are actually the correct formations as well. kinda cool attention to detail, esp. if you're a stargazer.

Exactly my point, though you put it better. He identified himself as 'lemming' in another thread. It's really unnecessary. And, you left out the VC... most people did.

I don't think you can generalize statements to a gender, every person is different. The stereotype is that girl-gamers like karaoke, ddr, guitar hero, animal crossing, and wii sports - oh and that they hate violent or sexual videogames. My girlfriend hates Wii Sports, got bored with Guitar Hero, likes Karaoke Revolution, thinks Gears is too bloody, but downloads porn and watches Quentin Tarantino movies. Go figure.

Why don't you go to a friends house with your gf and play Wii Sports and see if she likes it?

*sigh*

I am buying Wii for my girlfriend.  So I got a few decisions to make.

1.  Will she like Wii Sports?  Do chicks dig it?YourExpert

I have no idea.  I know everyone I have played it with male OR female have had fun with it.  But even if she hates it, you do realize there is more than one game out for the Wii and many more coming out this year right?  She won't have just one single game and therefore I don't understand the purpose of this question.  Sorry, but it's a really stupid question.

2.  I don't want a wireless network and plan on buying the lan usb adaptor.  However, there is no online games and I could care less for the retro games (i have them already).  Is there any other reason to go online with your wii at the moment, other then just downloading old games?

Wow.  First of all, I thought you are buying this for your GF.  So why the hell doe what you want even matter?  If you are buying it for your GF, then why are you so concerned about being able to play online.  And if you don't like anything that the online Wii is for then why are you even buying the adaptor.

Sorry.  But the illogical nature of your questions makes me think you are lying...either about your inentions or who you are buying the console for.  Either way it is clear you are supposedly looking into buying something you know absolutely nothing about.

Please stop wasting people's time.

1. I don't know what kind of games your girlfriend likes, but apparently, I'm the only person in the world who dosen't like Wii Sports.  Most of my "Wii hater" friends tell me how stupid of a game it is, but then ask if they can have another round at it :)

2. Currently, there's really not all that much of a reason to go online except for the virtual console.  The console can be used as an internet browser and for e-mail, but really, not any real reason to spend more money to get these features, as she probably does these on any PC

My girlfriend really loves it even though the program is way too buggy. She always wins at bowling and she kicks my a$$ at baseball. ;o)
So i'm sure she'll love it.

About the online thing i don't know at all.

Wii Play isn't all that good though. Only get it if you want a second controller and don't mind the extra 10$.
