Sonys Firesprite Studio - A toxic "culture of Fear" and the ugly side of being bought out....

Ugh... This one is a tough read. It seems that Sony has its hands full with Firesprite studios... Not only are they victims of job slashing, but there was already a mass exodus of people leaving due to a toxic work culture, venomous corporate suites and all the sludge modern gaming greed can churn out of humanity.

What is most interesting is the plans for re-moulding the studio Sony went in with (and likely with good reason!) only to be met with ruffled feathers. Do these Devs not understand what a buyout means? They traded their independence. Not saying it's right or wrong, but it sure sounds like Firesprite needs some sort of intervention.... Tough to make games when everyone is either being laid off or running for the door.

It is genuinely sad to see developers fall apart. I don't know what the grand solution is for this industry but I feel like we can do better.

It's weird watching Sony crumble before our eyes. No first party games, laying off people, canceling games, PSVR2 flopped, going third party. It's the end of a long era. RIP Sony.

At least Sony nurtured them.😏

I just assumed everyone knew it was dead already, why beat a dead horse?

Well, if the allegations made by some of Firesprite's employees are true, it is a shame.

Obviously, both sides of the story should be properly investigated. If what the complainants say is true, then the person who allegedly harassed the employees should be fired immediately and the victims should be compensated accordingly.

And since Sony acquired Firesprite in 2021, they bear some responsibility for the mishap there and should cooperate with the investigation and compensate the employees.

Toxic work culture, including harassment of employees, is an industry-wide problem, and I hope that Sony, as an industry leader, will make serious efforts to improve it.

Keep in mind that there are a lot of overly sensitive entitled woke snowflakes working at these companies. They don't know how to face adversity and start crying like little bitches when put in their place. They love to play victim and point fingers. So, it is always best to know the full story before jumping to conclusions.

We all see the rejects being hired to meet diversity and inclusive quotas. Many are not qualified, lack talent, and inject stupid shit into our games. Many games have suffered due to this. They also love to create unnecessary drama within the workplace.

Companies should hire the best people for the job where the only agenda is to make the best games possible. Sadly, this is not the case.

For someone that we know who truly hyped it, I would assume that be the case....but it looks like I'm wrong😅

It's really not. Different executives with different goals and vision. The exectutives today want different things out of the market than those when Shawn Layden or Jack Tretton were there.

As someone who comes in contact with a huge crosssection of the population on a daily basis due to the nature of my job: yeah, people sure love acting like victims.

I put it like this: it's like everyone wants to be treated like a king these days, and look at all the other people as their servants. They want more and expect more from other people than they are willing to give themselves. It's out of balance.

That is not right, after all SONY, current gen leader, teaches us the Live, Learn and Love philosophy.

We wish the best for this difficult times for this studio.
