Exactly, everyone's always talking about AI but nobody even brings up the fact mocapping takes away the good honest labor that a animator used to do to make cutscenes.

That's what this reminds me of, it's more realistic, it's easy, so they will shit this out in an endless loop with more dumbass cutscenes to show off the thing that is no longer impressive.

As for CGI, there's only two CGI scenes I ever liked:

The panning battle scenes in LOTR

Yoda jumping around in Episode 2

For everything else give me practical effects. They've always looked more real and they'll always look more real.

Yea not sure agree with this take. Like, even Yoda, the fight with Palpatine looked miles better. But that's whatever.

Point is overuse it now even when contextually no requirement. Even basic shit like squibs, a little bag that pops with fake blood, can't even be arsed doing that shit anymore.

I'm about to watch the Star Wars despecialised editions, in fact I should have done so a long time ago.

Having certain effects be CGI can enhance a world, like lightsabers or laser guns

But having just about everything be CGI these days has detracted from the experience.

@R4gn4r0k: Funny, I just recently rewatch John Carpenter's The Thing and I must say, the practical effects has aged well, the film has stood the test of times. I’m ok with some CGI if it’s only used to enhance practical effects. For example, I think the Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance used the perfect amount of CGI to enhance the puppets and sets. But if it’s a lazy CGI job cash grab, then we'd got a problem and it rarely pays off.

Light hair with dark complexion is strange. Karen Allen was a good-looking woman, but the dimple on this face looks strange too.

Don't care about the gameplay, know it will be mediocre. Only watched enough to know it has the tiresome crouch-makes-quiet mechanic with the usual choke. Can't see myself buy a Ubisoft game.

I am looking forward to the inevitable complaints of "Ewok" in the game.😏

This game has been getting an insane amount of shit since yesterday. Love to see it. Ubisoft please suffer for me.

I wish I could just make my own character, but from everything I've seen the game looks pretty solid. I'll probably end up getting this game since we haven't gotten KotOR yet... and.. well, I hope we do get it eventually.

@uninspiredcup: Yeah, putting the looks of characters aside, mo-cap looks weird. Right in the middle of the uncanny valley. Current games will age worse graphically than stuff from gen 7 and prior because of it. Realistic but slightly off looking is creepy in a way that something obviously fake isn't.

I remember like it was yesterday shitting on Ubisoft during the Halo Reach days, and literally nobody here or on most socials were hating on them, or even being slightly critical. Look at it now, literally everywhere you look at, be it reddit, here, twatter, youtube, etc, everyone isn't only negative about em, people meme them as the laughing stock of the industry (didn't help that they memed themselves with the AAAA talk bullshit). Honestly the only examples of ugly unattractive male characters I can think of Mario, which is a silly cartoon character. And I guess Morgan Freeman? He's a big old nerd with glasses, but they of course made him a somewhat attractive nerd.

End then there's Niko Belic. He looks like a toad in gameplay, but in the drawings he looks like a slavic super model.

Edit: That reminds me of GTA 5. We actually get all three. Trevor is 100% an ugly ass dude. I'll give you that one in advance. Michael is a 100% average dude but Franklin would go in the ruggedly handsome group.

First up, the hair is absolute garbage. I know it's Star Wars but god damn that looks like something pulled from an 80's workout video.

Second, facial structure seems really off. Like "Your mom is also your aunt" kind of off. Idunno, might be too harsh here, maybe the shadows from the video were making it look like her temples are too concave or something. All I know is that based on this picture, there's a mix of incest and Neanderthal DNA in there...

It's not so much that she is ugly, she just doesn't look quite right. Like she is part alien or mutated or something.

This attack on female characters in games is starting to get ridiculous. It feels like everything is being considered woke these days.

My attack on her isn't because she is a she, could have been a dude for all I care, it's just the art direction or the render or whatever you want to call it just looks a bit off.

These are supposed to be realistic human characters and in all my life I have never seen someone with that facial structure.

Kay Vess (main character) looks is alright, it was the animation on the trailer didn't line up, it made her look like a Muppet mainly because her hair was wonky. You'll be able to customize her similar to Cal Kestic.

Still, I'm excited for this since I did enjoy Solo: A Star Wars Story as I'm getting vibes for Outlaws.

I'm also getting tired of hearing it as well. I'm here for the games. I can understand the reason for it but the whole thing is stupid for Stellar Blade's condition than it is for Outlaws.

The game is $70. So many games require downloading day one patch. Ubisoft games being EGS is trivial. I don't get the hate for the issues you are listing.
