But that's the thing. The 360 and PS3 launches were very similar, and 360 didn't get this kind of negative press.jlabadie88
You weren't here in 2005 were you? The 360 got a lot of hate when it was first released.
But that's the thing. The 360 and PS3 launches were very similar, and 360 didn't get this kind of negative press.jlabadie88I mean don't get me wrong the ps3 is a great and powerful system , but it is just having a slow start. Wait until 2008 and we will see what the fanboys have to say.

The only thing I can think of is that they didn't meet the initial launch numbers they announced. The PS3 launch was apparently better than the PS1 or the PS2, even with the price tag. They sold all the systems they shipped, and it garnered plenty of hype. They also sold at least as many as 360 did at it's launch. Wii outselling it doesn't make it a failure either, as the price and supply were factors in that. I just got to thinking that with all this negative press, what exactly is the problem with PS3?jlabadie88
Are you kidding? GAMES!!!!
Take a look at this link:Â Top Rated PS3 Games
Look at the TOP ELEVEN games for the PS3. They are rated 7.3 to 8.6, which is HORRIBLY low. But...
-- 10 out of 11 are also on the 360.
--Â Many came out on the 360 first
-- Many are considered BETTER on the 360.
The PS3 is STILL all about Resistance, an 8.6 game that is NOT worth $600 or more. ($499 + $60 + tax for 20GB version)

Like I said no real launch titles, they should have waited for a least one AAA title. The only thing I can think of is that they didn't meet the initial launch numbers they announced. How it that a success? Also comparing how PS3 is doing NOW vs how other consoles (even Sony's) did THEN is misinformation at its finest. I don't care how PS1 or SNES did years ago, what matters is total sales, and sales right now of CURRENT consoles that devlopers will make games for.
To put that into perspective, let say another product--Like Apple's Ipod was launching, say Ipod3 in Nov 2006. At launch, not only does Apple ship 66% less product than originally forecast, but 30% of what does get made--no one wants to buy. Even if it ends up a runaway best seller, the LAUNCH would be considered a failure.Â
i don't think that anybody in here has some personal issues with sony, but the truth is that i don't like sony(not the ps3)because i don't like their arrogance....kauliaris711I'm the only one caught this? This is called illogical thinking.

So, its still in the same boat.
for me its the fact that most of the people waiting on line brought a playstation 3 just to sell it on ebay.mlbslugger86
lol, yup

In no way shape or form did the ps3 launch live up to the hype, that's why it's a failure. For a company that states "The next generation doesn't start until we say it does"...you better be ready to put up great titles as soon as the console goes on the shelf. On top of that, what was supposed to be a world wide launch was cut down to just Japan and NA, and also keep in mind the console was originaly set for a spring release.Â
It was just a disaster...and the bottom line is that Sony fanboys were let down, even though they'd rather die than admit it.
