Overall, I would avoid getting the Wii version of Hot Pursuit, and buy one of the other versions of this game instead.

User Rating: 4 | Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit WII
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is a poor game to launch on the Wii for several reasons. First, the graphics are not up to par with the PS3, Windows, and Xbox 360 versions of Hot Pursuit. Instead, the cars and buildings are very generic and bland looking. Also, the cars look blocky, and could be on an N64 game. The environments look colorful and bright, but they aren't upgraded like the other versions of this game. To sum it all up, the graphics are pretty much the same as from Need for Speed Nitro on the Wii.

Second, career mode is also way too short. In the previous games like Need for Speed Underground, career takes a long time to complete, and I still never fully beat that game. On the other hand, I almost beat Need for Speed Hot Pursuit for the Wii already. (Later on I traded in the Wii version of Hot Pursuit and bought the PS3 version). I even erased the data on the Wii version. You have elimination, time trial, rush hour, and regular race modes. In rush hour, you race against 100 cars. Also, you have to try to stay in either first place or up to tenth place (to get at least a bronze trophy) in order to win. You'll start to notice how very easy career mode is with very little bit of challenge.

Even if you win in third place, you still unlock other cars and areas. I think you can only unlock six to seven areas, which is not much to unlock anyways. The awards are also painfully limited because you only unlock cars and areas. You can't upgrade your performances and vinyls like you could in other Need for Speed games. Nevertheless, you can only to single player in career mode, and there's no online play either.

Third, the game play is also not upgraded either. Sure you can still drift around and use power ups to win races. The physics in this game aren't very good because the cars flip out a lot when you crash into buildings or other cars.

Overall, I would avoid getting the Wii version of Hot Pursuit, and buy one of the other versions of this game instead. If you want a very good racing game on the Wii, go buy Mario Kart Wii instead.

The good - cheap to buy

The bad - limited multiplayer modes, no online play, career mode is too short, game play could be tweaked a little bit more

Presentation - 1 There's no story this time around, and the modes are very basic.

Graphics - 4 In short, the graphics are very bland and has very small details in the environments.

Sound - 7 The music is basically hip hop and rock like other Need for Speed games.

Game play - 6 The controls are done well, but the cars tend to flip out too much sometimes.

Lasting approval - 3 With a very short career mode, and greatly limited multiplayer modes, this game has very little to offer.

Overall 4.2 out of 10 Game spot score 4.0
