New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe doesn't improve over the Wii U version all that much.

User Rating: 7 | New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe NS

The original New Super Mario Bros. U was released as one of the first launch titles when the Wii U was first released in North America in 2012. One year later, in 2013, New Super Luigi U was released for the Wii U back in 2013. Then, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe was released for the Nintendo Switch in 2019.

Unfortunately, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe doesn't improve all that much over the Wii U versions of both New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U.

First, there's still no way to play online with friends/strangers on the Switch version. Second, the only new addition that the Switch version really has over the Wii U version is just having Toadette/Peachette being a new playable character.

The only really outstanding/amazing thing that I can think about New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is that New Super Mario Bros. U is bundled up with New Super Luigi U in one package. So, it gives players a chance to play both New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U if they ended up missing out on playing the Wii U Versions of both games.

Final Verdict

If New Super Luigi U wasn't included with New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, I would have given New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe a 6 out of 10. So, including New Super Luigi U is really only the saving grace that the Switch version really has besides New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe being playable on a portable console for the first time. So, is New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe really worth a re-buy if you already own the Wii U Versions of New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U? Yes, only if you're desperate enough with playing both games on the go for the first time.

The Good
