@AceMarine45 Not to "educate" you, but in FE and FFT, perma-death really is a core mechanic. I totally get why perma-death can be such a frustrating proposition to some, but truly, in those games it's a huge part of the foundation. It's designed to force you to be much more methodical than you might perhaps be in other games -- since merely getting through "this battle" isn't enough -- you have to consider future battles as well. In that way, it's a lot like chess.
That being said, I am glad to see Intelligent Systems add a "Casual" option to the latest FE, as the series has had trouble gaining traction here in the States, and I'm sure that's due in large part to the intimating nature of perma-death. Considering all that, though, perma-death isn't as profound as some folks take it to be. In FE, you're constantly introduced to new characters, so the fallen are made up for in your ranks.
@CountZurich @Tripwolf @GeekyDad I agree, and I probably won't use the option, but I know it's a feature of the FE series that has always kept many folks away from these games. This series needs a popularity boost, and I'd say Nintendo took a balanced approach to opening it up a little to a broader audience.
Glad to see Nintendo opening this franchise up a bit to the mainstream by offering a perma-death "option." Finally a reason to once again dust off my 3DS.
