Looking online this seems to be a general Steam thing. Many games you need to run the game at least once and then exit before you can go into offline mode on Steam. Then after that you can switch between online/offline no problem.
Sometimes an initial connection needs to be made maybe to authorize the game if an account is required, or sometimes a few files need to be downloaded for compatibility.
Most people don't run into it because they just stay online.
If you made a legitimate digital purchase but the digital purchase content is no longer officially distributed, then I don't see an ethical issue preventing someone from obtaining the content through other means and also defeating any drm to use it.
Maybe it's the successor to the superhero movie trend.
It could either satisfy people who love a certain property, it could inspire creators who grew up being fans of a property, but it could also become a crutch for people looking to churn out uninspired paydays for themselves.
If it becomes a successful trend, hopefully it doesn't harm the prospects for new and original ideas to get greenlit, and hopefully the market doesn't get oversaturated with them.
Seems like it would a good move by MS that may give a boost to their platform. For those who doubt MS's strategies, if they needed a Hail Mary then this would be it. For those who feel they are in a good position already, then this would solidify it.
People enjoyed the games and praised the combat. It's normal for people to be influnced by a successful idea. I still find there's variation in combat in new games to play and original new ideas, so I have no issues.
@outworld222: Maybe, but it had some strong games and I liked Mario Maker a lot more on there. I think it was worth it.
I wish 3DS had a true follow up that was more compact and kept the 3D screen and dual screen setup.
Hopefully the Switch 2 won't have the same problem with me as the Switch at least where it was ports for the first 4 years, and poor quality 3rd party games that are late and more expensive.
@outworld222: Yup. I experienced a lot of the Switch with the Wii U so it didn't hit the same for me, and the third party games on there just aren't as good as the 3rd party games on 3DS.
Not sure why the Switch did better, maybe because there was no other Nintendo system and they consolidated their TV and portable audience.
