The last couple of PS3 games I have played have had very long loading times and suffered through poor frame-rates.It was frequently enough that it really started getting to me and took away some enjoyment of the games. On games especially like Dragon Age where even switching between in-game menusare tidous, not to mention just exiting a building or changing rooms.

I did some research and found an SSDthat would not break my bugdet : Zalman S Series SSD0064S1 2.5" 64GB; 128 DDR2 CACHE; Ports USB 2.0 & SATAII

It took a little prep-work. Had to download switchblade? and format in FAT32 as Windows only goes up to 32gb density. Also had to download the most recent PS3 System Update (3.60?). Removed the old drive, inserted new one in less then 5 minutes. Reinstalling the OS and reloading my back up took about 20 minutes.

Right away I noticed a night and day difference in the PS3 performance (before even loading any games). While playing Dragon Age the performance was staggering. Load times for in-game play nearly dissappeared as well as frame rate/lagginess issues. I would say overall load times were reduce by 75% and install times by 30%.

If you have it in your budget to drop an extra $100+ into your PS3....DO IT! In previous SSD performance/price/density ratiowas not enough to justify the purchase well....time has come where SSD have reached that threshhold.

Other thoughts: I would have liked to witness the 128gb version of this SSD in action, it has twice the through-put as the 64gb hardware version.
