Was playing L4D2 last night and all of a sudden, the pc froze and I had to restart. But, after the reboot, the screen had some weird dots/lines and windows booted with 640X480 resolution instead of 1680X1050 default. I checked device manager and it showed the some 'error 43 that windows had shut off the device cause the device had some problem'. My other specs are E6600, 4 GB, 9800 GTX (no oc), P5N E SLI mobo with 600 PSU and 22 inch LG widescreen. Thanks and please help.

Thanks for replies. Now, putting that aside, I was thinking of upgrading the video card instead. So, is this one good enough and compatible to my specs:

Thanks again.

Hey,

I am thinking of upgrading to a Intel Quad core right now from my current specs. Came up with this item:

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115131

Is it good enough for my current specs? Well, I'll be upgrading my ram to 6GB as well. Specs in sign. Thank you.

Just a note, so u had 2GB RAM in 1 slot, or u had 2x1GB ram?

It could just be a problem with the dual channel, ur wi-fi may refuse to boot.

Or u installed 800 ram with 667 or something, but that shouldn't be a problem, ur faster ram should downclock itself to match the slower speed.

Amith12

Previously, I had 2 sticks of 1GB ram each, with same frequencies in two slots. But, I had some serious blue screen problems recently related to memory, so I decided to check it with memtest, in which both my sticks failed the test (which meant I needed new ram). Now, I bought single stick of 2GB ram (2X1) which is running perfectly smooth, but when adding a single stick of 1GB (1X1) ram, I have wi-fi boot-up problems. The new 1GB stick has exactly the same frequencies as of 2GB, with an exception of it just having a 1GB ram, instead of 2GB ram, which is my current ram. I still don't know how I can change the ram modules as someone is saying here above.

Sorry, I did not describe the whole situation. The thing is, when 3GB is installed, Vista does detect the wi-fi pci card, but the card never starts up, no matter how many times I restart the computer. But, switching back to 2GB, the card turns on by itself and works like a charm.

P.S. I am sorry but I don't know how to change the settings in RAM module. Can someone please shed some on this matter? Thanks in advance in again.

Hey all,

I have Patriot stick of 2GB DD2 6400 800 Mhz. I recently bought a new single stick of Patriot 1GB DD2 6400 800 Mhz. The computer runs fine with 3GB RAM (I have Vista 32), but the problem is whenever I have 3GB installed, my wi-fi card won't start up. But as soon as I switch back to 2GB, my wi-fi runs perfectly as before. I tried to re-install new drivers of wi-fi card, it's Zonet card, but no avail. Any ideas? Thanks.

This may sound a little coincidence (as I mostly play FPS games), but I am playing Curse of Monkey Island right now again (last time was like 8-9 years ago). This is because of announcements for new episodes at E3 this year made me play it once again and also because I love the atmosphere of the game. Try it and you will love it.

My wireless 360 controller for PC works great. Have you tried to install the drivers for the controller? And like the above posted said, try using Xpadder, as I had to use it for some games as well.

P.S. It was nearly impossible for me to play Assassin's Creed without this controller on my PC! But, sadly, it's true that I also have heard of people at Microsoft rather asking us that has Microsoft really made any controller for PC?!

Hmmm... Looks like the combo of PSU+Video card seems to be expensive for my pocket. So, I was thinking of getting this card instead. Nvidia website says this card needs minimum of 550W PSU. So, is it possible for me to run on my current 600W? I have checked the dimensions of the card and it will easily fit in my case as it is exactly the same as my current card (it's big, btw).

Now, should I get this one or this one? If I get this ATI card as I mentioned earlier, then I have change the PSU as well! :( So, what should be the best thing to go for? Or should I wait a month or two to get the prices go down?

P.S. I was wondering where in Canada I can sell my stuff (other than ebay) cause I wanna get rid of some cards and my current monitor (and get a 22" Samsung). I got this website, but you guys have any other ideas?

from your rig spec i say you should change your PSU,regardless any VGA you choose. i recommend HD4870 X2, a Corsair TX 750W and a Windows 7 64bit (cos Vista 64bit sucks) :)AMDAtiFanboy

I was thinking of getting this PSU. So, do I have to change the case as well or should I get this one you said, i.e. Corsair TX 750W?

Windows 7? You mean I have to wait till 2010? Or should I get the beta?
