MS wonders why their sales have been abysmal recently, things like this don't help. I can buy 2TB of much faster SSD for under $100. What are they thinking?

"The unlaunch means that there will not be a mid-range graphics card alongside alongside the 16GB 4080. "

Many games will have to he 30fps and you know what, that's OK. If all games were hitting a minimum 60fps and going up to 120 there would be an outcry how the new games look just like current gen games do. People have to make a choice, do you want really fancy graphics at 4K(reconstructed) or do you want good visuals at very high frame rates.

@sealionact: it limits game design in general when constrained to the Xbox One and its POS Jaguar CPU. Think of a game like Crysis when it came to consoles, entire missions were removed because they couldn't handle it. Comparing the Jaguar to Zen 2 is laughable at best.

@sellingthings: Nvidia has no reason to lower prices after this debacle, are you serious? Jen is sitting in his office laughing at Raja right about now.

@sellingthings: I'm not even sure what you're are trying to say exactly. AMD have explicitly singled out the GTX 1080 as Vega's main competition. What do you mean the lowest card listed should be on par with the 1080 ti? are you suggesting the Vega 56 is going to compete with it? if that is the case then LOL and how much is AMD paying you.

@sellingthings: No... it won't come close to a 1080 ti. If that were the case I think we might have heard about it from AMD, as it stands they have not mentioned the 1080 ti once, only the vanilla 1080. A 100mhz overclock is not magically going to bridge a 30% deficit.

If this were 2016 I'd be impressed, as it is nearly one and a half years later than the GTX 1080 this is a fail. Power consumption is through the roof and probably won't overclock well, remember when AMD said Fury X was a overclocked dream lol. Most 1080s clock past 2Ghz easily I highly doubt Vega can touch that. Vega 64 needed to come in at $399 to be taken seriously, and with Volta not far away and no signs of Navi if say AMD is in trouble and Raja should be worried about his position.
