How about a game console being focused more on video games. Apps and extra features are all well and good, but more exclusives would be preferable and advisable.
Feels like Microsoft strays away from exclusivity outside of the obvious flagships franchises in Gears of War and Halo, and if they want to implement more of a social services, simply put some creative minds together to meld core titles with that experience.
In long run and by past F2P models, the micro-transactions to obtain at least a decent amount of content will end up totalling over the past $60 for a retail release. Doesn't sound promising in the long run in my opinion.
Also, Peter Moore formerly had a soul set in the EA Sports multiplayer franchise, so the single player model doesn't seem to be a big loss for someone with that previous structure of game.
Story-based single player experieneces shouldn't be weeded out for this model to prosper, but it looks like it's going to be an unfocused part of this F2P model and be a tacked-on experience. And with this would also go split-screen gaming as well.
So basically an arcade shooter such as CoD should have one solid one life game mode? Too contradictory to even fathom how many blunders McShea made about the direction of the series. His comments were unfounded sinec he didn't even pick up the game on the show floor or play the previous iteration. Just my two cents.
McShea admits to not having played MoH 2010. He has no right to criticize the narrative if he didn't even see the direction and tone that the game took.
Oh look, ignorance. I'm sure you watched all of two second of the video and haven't even touched the previous title. Get off your high horse and think before you post.
@Giancarlo But to single out BioShock? BioShock is usually strong on story and is rather dynamic, so they won't run out of things/way to play in the game. You could use something like a Ghost Recon Future Soldier type of shooter as a better example. Marketing for games that aren't longer than 5 hours ruins a lot more and shows a lot less at the same time.
The darker tone Gears 1 conveyed actually fit the game. It was a dark story with engaging characters and an absolutely amazing multiplayer. Gears 2 features a noticeably more “colorful” scale, though, in my opinion, not much has changed in terms of graphics. As a huge Gears fan, I would say that even good graphics cannot save Gears 2’s multiplayer.
