I love La Dispute. One of the best bands I've heard in years. They're actually one of the bigger bands in a wave of post-hardcore/screamo revival bands that have been gaining popularity recently, others include: Pianos Become The Teeth(my personal favorite), Touche Amore, Goodtime Boys, The Saddest Landscape, and Being As An Ocean.

My 2013 collecting goals:

  1. To complete my horror game collection, in order to do that, I must:
  2. Buy a Dreamcast and begin collecting for it
  3. To continue building my (pathetically small) Atlus PS1/2 collection

Games at the Top of My Wishlist:

  • Echo Night
  • Parasite Eve 1 and 2
  • Eternal Poison
  • Wizardry: Tale of the Forsaken Land
  • Steambot Chronicles
  • D 1 and 2
  • Hellnight/Dark Messiah

It could be hard drive access. Try running a defrag.

Edit: You will also want to make sure your "Power Management" settings are on High Perfmance rather than power saving or balanced.

Edit 2: Was your 460 not enough power to run those games smoothly? Perhaps your CPU is part of the issue.

Most of my games ran buttery smooth before, so its definitley not the CPU's fault. I'll try defraging and changing the power settings, thanks for the suggestions!

is it a very frequent problem or does it happen once in a while? you can put vsync on and the frames will be locked at 60fps. Problem with these older games is that the card ends up being too powerful and frames go all over the place. Though I don't understand why youd upgrade ur 460 to play source games and darkness 2 (which is an indie game?)

It happens every time. I used source games and TD2 as examples of where the problem is most apparent, but it happens in Skyrim, BF3, and most recently Borderlands 2.

So I recently upgraded my graphics card from a GTX 460 to a Radeon HD 7870 and its been nothing but a nightmare. Basically all of my games run at high framerates but there's a subtle dip/skip in frames every few seconds, most notably in The Darkness 2 and every Source Engine game. It's absolutely unbearable. I've cleaned out all traces of the Nvidia drivers, installed, then cleaned out every AMD driver from 12.4 to the 12.9 beta, overclocked/underclocked my card, fiddled with some options on CCC, reseated and dusted every component, even if I lower the settings or turn off V-sync/AA the problem persists.

Should I RMA the card or is there something I haven't thought of yet? A special setting on CCC perhaps?

Please help me, I'm at my wit's end.

My system specs are:

CPU: Intel Core i3 2100
GPU: MSI R7870 Twin Frozr III
MB: ASRock H61M-VS
HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB
RAM: Mushkin 8GB 1333
PSU: Antec 520w
OS: Windows 7

If you can find them, Silent Hill 4 and Call Of Cthulu for the original xbox are great options, they're both compatible on the 360, too!

There are not very many genuinely horror games on the 360. Games like Fear and Dead Space are terrible horror games but fun shooters. Anyway, I'd recommend the Silent Hill HD collection, despite it's numerous issues, SH 2 and 3 remain some of the best horror games ever made. Resident Evil Code Veronica X HD, Silent Hill Downpour and Condemned 1 are also great options.

I love Jane Jensen, the Gabriel Knight series was amazing and Gray Matter is the first good Point and Click adventure game I've played in a really long time. I'm definitely going to pledge for this one.

Huh? The movie was one of the most faithful adaptations I've ever seen. The only differences were that the main character doesn't wear his hat, the ending quote, and one or two dream sequences. All but the last were trivial changes,

IMO it stopped being a horror action game and plays just like a normal FPS military game.

FelipeInside

I wouldn't mind if the pathetic pseudo J-horror, boo scare-ific modus operandi of the Fear games was taken out of focus in favor of more violence. I don't appreciate the Fear games for their horror, but for their gunplay. The one thing that looks bad to me is the inclusion of regenerating health, which I imagine probably hurts the fun of the gunplay quite a bit.

bonafidetk,

What's so bad about Fear 3? I haven't played it yet but the gunplay looks pretty excellent.
