Its nice to see the comments getting more intelligent as this thread proceeds, less of the M$ sux, no Sony sux crap! I personally think alot of this brand loyalty stems from people being afraid of buying the wrong system. Lets face it, most people can only get one, maybe two, and they don't want to miss out. Therefore, they pick their favorite and try to rally support. Nobody wants to be the kid that got the Atari 7800 instead of the NES, or the TG-16 instead of a Genesis or a Saturn instead of PS. This is why everyone keeps comparing systems to those in th past, i.e. 360=Dreamcast or PS3=3DO/Neo-Geo. The PS3 has great potential down the road, but just like a lot of PS2 luanch games were CD-ROM based (remember those blue discs?), I bet alot of the PS3 luanch games or DVD based. THe Blu-Ray uses will take time to become an industry standard, if they ever do. Companies will have to invest a lot of capital to prepare to manufacture Blu-Ray discs, and I'll bet the non-Sony publishing houses hold off. Therefore, only SOny produced games are likely to be Blu-Ray early. IF Blu-Ray catches on, this system will be a great idea cause it will last for a long lifecycle, if not... The benefit to the Wii is that it is a true alternative VG experience. I may get one, not as a primary console, but as an alternatieve treat from time to time. The old games is a serious selling point for me. I already own an XBOX 360 an love it. I will probably get a PS3, but I intend to wait. THe majority of what is coming at launch (so far) looks OK, but nothing I gotta have. Given the history of buggy luanches (PS2,PSP, 360) I think it will be prudent to wait. Those of you who jump first, enjoy, it will be a hell of a ride and I'll see you there eventually.

The Wii has a very good chance to be a success, but it is a risky proposition. The XBOX360 is the least adventurous sytem, kinda just the next logical progression as it were. The PS3....hmm. Well, the problem is the Blu-ray is a niche technology at this point. When the PS2 launched with a DVD player, it was brilliant because it coincided with the explosion of DVD in home. The advent of HD discs is just begining. This means the technology is cutting edge, meaning exepensive, with minimal pneetration. I think blu-Ray has a good chance to catch on, but for now, it is jacking up the price of the PS3, it will likely increae the cost of games (many articles have detailed how blu-Ray discs can't be manufactured on standard DVD production lines, calling for a large investment from production companies). So what are we going to get for all of our money? Well, 70% of games are available croos platrform, in order to maximize profits for companies. The performance statistics for the XBOX360 and PS3 are actually very close (though the PS3 is the pretty clear more powerful machine). It is very likely that MOST popular games will be available for both platforms, and most game designers will be slow to eplore the benfits of Blu-Ray due to cost. The short and long of it:70% of games will be available for either sytem, with the 360 bieing cheaper, and having a more established online track record. This is going to be a very difficult bottom line for Sony to overcome. They are betting the franchise on a 10 year lifecycle of the system, twice the industry norm. And for the record, I bought one of the 1st Playstations, I spent the night outside Best Buy for a PS2, got my PSP on 1st day, so I have a long hisotry of faith in sony. I own an XBOX and 360 as well, and suggest any doubters give it a whirl. The 360 is just a fun machine with some excellent apps already in its lifecycle.

My list consist of games I own that were bought b/c good word of mouth, strong reviews or some combination. They are all excellent games, but I found myself drifting away, several unfinished, because the truth is, I was never really that into them! 1. GTA Vice City 2. Resident Evil 4 3. Silent Hill 3 4. Katamari Damacy 5. GRAW (X360)
