Final Fight is a fun game, but this port is missing quite a bit

User Rating: 6.5 | Final Fight SNES
Final Fight is a highly addictive game, but the SNES port is a let down in a lot of different ways

Story: The Mad Gear gang has kidnapped the mayor Mike Haggar's daughter and Cody's girlfreind Jessica. The two set out in Metro City to stop the Mad Gear gang and rescue Jessica.

Gameplay/Controls: The controls in Final Fight aren't that deep. There is a punch/kick button, a grappeling button and a button to perform a special move. The controls are kind of easy, but using combos is really fun and what makes this game diffucult is the enemies. There are a total of five stages, but one entire stage from the arcade version is missing, which is a VERY big set back for Final Fight. Another huge set back is the lack of multiplayer, a very big deal for a beat em' up game.

Characters: In Final Fight, you can play as Cody, with the boxing style of fighting, or Haggar, with the wrestling style. Sadly though, a character from the arcade version isn't on this port, Guy the ninja isn't. There are also enemies like Dirk or Andore Jr. One of the enemies, Poison, was replaced by a character named Billy.

Graphics: Of course the graphics aren't as good as the arcade version, but the graphics are very good for a SNES port of an arcade game, so there are a few points added here.

Comments: No doubt Final Fight is an addicting beat em' up, but there are way too many missing things from this version to make it less fun, for example, no multiplayer. Also, this version was censored too. Even with all these set backs though, it's hard to quit playing, but I reccomend you find the arcade version and play it or buy Final Fight 2 or 3 with more characters and multiplayer.
