What is really happening is the large majority of protesters are peaceful. The people you are arguing with are defending those people. There is plenty of video evidence of those people being beaten by cops etc. for no reason. There is a core policing problem when they treat everyone as a threat.

It is also true that there are scumbags who are not peaceful. They deserve what they get. There is also plenty of video evidence of the bad shit this category of people do.

This is not an either/or situation. As far as I can tell there is not a single person posting here that is on the other side of this debate that actually endorses looting, rioting, burning. Not one. Yet there appear to be plenty of Muppets on the other side that excuse every fucking thing the cops do in the name of order.

I expect more from the agents of gov't than I do from rioters. I expect agents of gov't to limit the use of force, to focus only on the real problem people, and to not attack the girl with the sign just because she is in the vicinity.

One of these groups is supposedly well trained and well led. One of these groups is funded by the public and one of these groups is supposed to have the public interest in mind, which is more than protection of buildings. The second group is just a mob and yes it is unfair to the cops to have to figure out who is actually in this group, but that's their job.

The third group is just your average protestor caught in the middle. Too often what I see is terrible tactics/response by the cops which simply creates more people in the mob camp. This has played out the exact same way everywhere in every age and still we have to relearn the lesson every time.

Funny part is I have not seen anyone denounce what these rioters are even doing. So keep on with your drivel I will not read because I can already tell it will be just another take on defending the rioters and the destruction of private/public property. Sorry these protest are not peaceful and the people at these protest are not trying to even achieve anything anymore.

Bud, not one of us is against peaceful protesting. This thread is obviously not against that. The people in here refuse to believe, no matter how many videos, that these people are not peaceful.

Hong Kong may or may not be a fair comparison, personally I don't think it is. And someone may have said lasers are self defense, which it could be under some circumstances but it is not something I would endorse. If you want, I will retract the precisely no one and substitute it with virtually no one, if that will make you happy. But it is entirely disingenuous to pretend like people on the other side of the debate are advocating violence, looting, rioting, etc.

Moreover, even if they were why would you debase yourself and your position by advocating the same?

This whole situation, in Portland as an example, could be resolved without the current tactics being used by the agents of the state. Many an authoritarian state has shown exactly how to do so.

@Chutebox: there have been both protests and rioting in the city I'm in. The protestors are fine when they are out durring the day. From what ive seen the protests are peacefull in the day, but when the sun goes down is when the violence and riots starts. It seems to be the Antifa kids at night, bunch of college dropouts that think burning down a gamestop and breaking peoples windows is some sort of "revolution". They dont even know what they want, they just want to cause disruption.
