@loudheadphones: ok so I guess the UK government just put that in there for fun, the CMA is separate form the UK government but they still have to answer to them, and I’m of the mindset that if MS does not appeal the CMA they will pull out of the UK. This is more of a political move, the UK has only been a sovereign nation for about 3 years they need companies to come there to help the economy and ideals they had when leaving the EU. The backlash this decision got from other big tech companies definitely is a bad sign for the UK in its current state especially considering their track record with big tech of lately.
Never said it was for fun. Also, after hearing UK parliament gave CMA more power. Which is awesome. Also, you genuinely believe MS would carve out of UK to give people a Diablo and COD in other countries on Gamepass? You genuinely believe that MS would carve out of UK and give UK ( which is a very important market for Xbox ) to PlayStation and Nintendo platforms just to rule there alone?
IF Microsoft trying to bypass the CMA, the CMA will fine Microsoft 10% of the global annual revenue, every year. And that amounts to $20 billion every year.
So even after I explained it, you're still clinging to that. So ON TOP of the reforms and new powers in the proposed legislation which probably took months to years of research and many experts to draw up, which is yet to go through Parliament and the House of Lords, you believe random people added more random powers on top of that.
Now these random powers you speak of must be special, must be like executive orders, that bypass democracy and Parliament and go into immediate effect. Which is unlikely.
What were these random powers that they must have thought were not in the proposed legislation? :-S
The guy talking about new powers, was not offering anything, only reiterating the newly published legislation that is ready to go to Parliament and the House. Which happened to have been published at the same time the CMA gave their verdict.
Anything else is fanboy nonsense. This isn't a movie, people are not pulling random powers out of their ass and handing them out.

Still you've didn't explained anything. More power to CMA. Anyway, we will see what will happen at July 24th.

I explained where this "power" was coming from, even when it it coming (near the end of 2024). You're purposefully pretending not to understand.
I can't even find an article linking these new powers to the MS/ABK merger.
This is calling a bit of a shit storm in the UK. People in the government now have to "re-assure" companies that the UK is not "closed for business".
"On Wednesday, Mr Hunt told a conference that while he did not want to undermine the independence of the watchdog, “I do think it's important all our regulators understand their wider responsibilities for economic growth”."
Referring to Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt.
Looking like Microsoft and Activision-Blizzard's appeal with the CMA is off to a great start:
@loudheadphones: bruh the judge just basically embarrassed the CMA its not looking good for them. You know its bad when the people who actually made the decision to block the deal won't come to court, and the people who are there are stuttering and seem to be overwhelmed.

Well, MS used very common tactic, also seen in movies - providing a documents just a 1 day before hearing. What CMA could do anyway. Mind you that MS wanted 18th July date, but UK gave CMA a week more. Also, after July 18th, MS would need to renegotiate a new deal with Activision. Everthing is in favor for CMA.
@loudheadphones: this is over before 7/24
Yes. BLOCKED
Anyway, desperate move by Microsoft. This is it.
Looks like a company who is confident in their appeal /s
The thing with the renegotiation with ABK for the merger is those conversations may actually take place much earlier then July. So if those talks did fail and ABK did pull out we may even here about it in June.
I dont recall facebook and Nvidia do all these desperate moves. When their attempts got blocked. This is like when you are in the last stages of the boss fights. And it's starts throwing all these random moves.
