I would go with Dawkins in this one. Not to take anything away from Williams...who is great in his own way. But with age also comes experience. Williams is still at a point in his career where 50% of the time he sees something and reacts. Where as Dawkins has seen just about everything the league...so he can break something down and position himself before the play even happens. Someday Williams will be there as well...but not yet.
Plus I want to put in a little plug for Rodney Harrison...I know he's hurt...but man can he play.
You know I heard T.O. covered this in chapter 3 of his childrens book.
How to make friends by spitting on them...
I know that Brady had a very sucky receiving corps but still I think Rivers is better.dallas_cowboys3And that is obviously backed up by the stats... Brady has more yards and more touchdowns with a much worse receiving corps...and oh yeah...Rivers just happens to have one of the greatest running backs of all time having one of the greatest rushing seasons of all time.
I would have to disagree. I don't believe the award is for the best player...becuase the best player does not always win the award. The award is for the player who is the most valuable to his team, not in a dollar sense, but in an overall performance/leadership sense. And in this case...as much as I love LT, I would have to go with Brees. With Brees Deuce has become a legit running back. He has taken two rookies in Colsten and Bush and a make shift O-line and engineered the leagues best offense. If you take Brees away from the Saints there in no chance and they are half of the offense that they are now. Which is also why more QBs win the award over RBs. Most teams stack at least a solid backup running back versus a solid backup quarterback. So if a starting runningback goes down they have something there. That is not the case with QBs. So my vote goes to Brees. The meaning of the Most Valuable Player Award is highly debatable. I take into consideration what the award was designed to be for, which is to recognize the single best player of the year. MVP is a misnomer, I believe. There is no way to determine who is more important to their team and if it truly meant "valuable", then salary should come into play.
That being said, there is an awful MVP favoritsm towards QBs. So if it's a tie between a RB and a QB, I'll take the RB just for fairness' sake. Tomlinson>Brees
Plus Tomlinson was my preseason pick for MVP(if it was a RB), so I don't want to be wrong. :P Both are very worthy of the award though.
