Yeah, well, December games just get forgotten.

Hardcore dweebs are too busy being in a rush trying to make their GOTY end lists look complete or less embarrassing even though nobody probably cares about your GOTY list unless you have really fantastic taste (Hint: you dont).

Normal peoplemen are playing last months games, saving videogame pocketmoney for in-game currency or have it wrapped in 2nd hand gift wrap because: a) game boxes are pretty small so that they can be wrapped by leftover parts of gift wrapping. b) you have totally sustainable and resourceful Asian relatives (totally not being racist here; more props to them!). c) illmatic87 happens to be your Hallmarkâ„¢ Secret Santaâ„¢ where videogames deserve nothing more but a terrible low-effort attempt at a well presented gift.

Game publications put out their year end lists before the year is over, too. Because for some reason, they just have to release GOTY lists in that calendar year. So a gem might not get recognized over time.

I know most people love the sandbox mode to just create whatever park they wanted, but strangely I have always preferred the 'campaign' where they set up certain challenges for you. Is there a kind of challenge/campaign mode in this one?

I have no idea bud.

Maybe another management building game like Anno 1404/2070 would be up your alley?

Ultra S/M is just the same game sold for retail. The content it adds is less than what alot of games add on for free through support/updates.

Ended up returning my girlfriends' copy and probably discouraged a few others after my brief time with the game. Still intend to go through it pretty casually.

@Vaasman: yes, but it was never released outside of Japan, though there was a group working on a translation for it (don't know what happened to that project though)

@anthonyautumns not death row prisoners, but mostly military offenders and criminals. They are sent to a penalty unit who's name will not be recorded in history. The 3rd game was about that penalty unit called "Nameless"

It was fully translated. It just had some weird stuff with text overflowing its speech frames.

It's ashame about what happened with VC3. I like it as much as the first game.

@locopatho: Are the narratives of the games linked in any way?

Kinda. I think the benefit of playing each one in succession is that it has an interesting setting that you get an expanded understanding of.

VC3 has alot of tie ins with the first 2 games. The campaign runs in parallel with the first game, for instance. You can actually get a sense on the theatres of war and border conflicts happening even though the game is structured with linear missions.

VC2 has references and cameos to the first game. It's a direct sequel in a totally different tone and structure. I think it still handles war as well as the first game in spite of its high school kool-aid thing going on. It's just that the gameplay in VC2 is the worst of the 3 with repetitive maps, poor AI and controls let down by its PSP-ness.

VC3. Has Waifu mechanics. SO LINE UP BOYS.

Blame SONY.

But yeah, more excited for Wargroove and Into the Breach anyway. Can trust a Western developer more when it comes to Strategy games.
