I respect your opinion, but I have to disagree. I would definitely say it deserves at least an 8.5 based on the merits of its design. I find the setting to be absolutely gripping, of the 29 hours I spent in my playthrough almost all of those came from just exploring at my own pace. I loved that the station was mostly opened up to me barring the main questline, and I religiously sought out all the dead employee because I sincerely enjoyed discovering their fates. The enemies were varied and satisfying to purge from an area, but the scarcity of ammunition towards the endgame made them intimidating once more. The sound design was excellent, and added to the already thick tension in most of the game's areas. I will agree with you that the plot is not unique or notably different than that of SS2, Bioshock, or the like. It's very similar in its overall premise, the moral and ethical dilemmas of pushing humanity "forward", and the aftereffects of said push. Having said that I found Prey to be very sincere and authentic in its delivery, so while the overall story might be hackneyed, it had strong delivery and a believable world. I really would recommend that scifi, horror, and fans of strong single player story games check our Prey. It ticks all the right boxes, and greatly impressed me with what it had to offer

@nyarlathotep:

It sounds like a match made in heaven, but after playing the beta I found it completely uninspired. It's mostly the little things it gets wrong, like passe voice acting, weak weapon sounds (lascannons sounds like squishy fruit, bolters don't thunder), poor walking animations (dudes be hopping around like ducklings), and the removal of dynamic cover/sync kills. All those nitpicks just make the tiresome gameplay even less appealing, especially when compared to the previous entries in the series

@Ezioprez9709: Necroing this thread, NightDive Studios just remastered this game for PC, you can grab it for $20 right now. Superb game, well worth a playthrough

@mpoints: Agreed, or even round out the indoctrination theory and actually conclude the game. The breath scene in 3 makes it a cliffhanger, would have much rather finished the fight and then maybe moved on to new characters and scenarios.

@gameplayuk: 11 years actually, and I'd agree with you that it would definitely be a hitchy experience. Nowadays we're reaching a performance plateau so at least in this current gen consoles are endemically weak. Even when this gen launched they were outdated, and the refreshes (Pro and Switch) really aren't much better than their counterparts. I don't think we're going to see an amazing jump in performance for a cheap dollar amount anytime soon with hardware, so unless you want to shell out for a 480/1070 you're going to have average gpu capabilities, that get somewhat better upgrades each refresh

@joshrmeyer: It's an homage for sure, I wouldn't call it stealing though the team are obviously huge Nintendo fans

@pcps4xb: Fantastic but YMMV, I recently played Rogue Leader and for the first time ever there weren't any weird graphical hitches. It was awesome, the visuals hold up really well even today. Also played Timesplitters FP, Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess, and Metroid Prime Trilogy which was exceptional. I'd highly recommend picking up a dolphinbar and wiimote plus. Worth every penny :)

@gameplayuk: Skyward Sword looks great in 1080p at 60fps, if only the actual console could do what Dolphin does

@spartanx169x: There's no reason to though, it's not like Microsoft or Sony are putting out a solid infrastructure in return for your sub. Their download speeds are awful compared to what you can get from Origin or Steam, and online play frequently tanks. It's a problem about principle, not cost

@PredatorRules: Kotick's jimmies are surely rustling, maybe it will convince him to stop pumping out cod yearly and actually build up some anticipation for the next iteration
