@hector530 Again, a great point. Clearly the growth is in mobile not console. Potentially selling a hundred million mobile devices in a year versus the millions that consoles do is not to be sniffed at.
@hector530 @Gallowhand It's true. Most PC games take advantage of dual core at most. It's a well-known problem developers face in that's it's difficult to program for multi-threaded CPUs. Battlefield 3 is one of the few games that does take advantage of it. Most games (and indeed many applications) simply benefit from a faster single-threaded performance and clock speed, which is why Intel still holds onto to a performance lead with its CPUs.
@Gallowhand That's a great point, and one that I'm exploring in a feature I'm writing at the moment. I think that fact that the consoles are based on standard PC tech--regardless of it being AMD--is better for everyone.
@LukeWesty Yes, we live it up in our Microsoft-bought Ferraris, sip on Cristal, and worship a picture of Steve Ballmer atop an altar placed in the office cantine.
Or, in what I like to think of as "the real world", I simply didn't enjoy the multiplayer and found it pretty shallow. But that fact you like it is good--we are different people after all. This is simply my take on things.
Anyway, you seem kinda stressed, so here's a picture of kitten. Look, he's waving at you!
Rest assured people, the Xbox press conference will no doubt be full of the same kind of management hyperbole. And when that day comes, Microsoft will not be spared. NO ONE WILL BE SPARED.
@gamefreak215jd @markypants Yes, they showed off the actual development kit that demo runs in, and how they created all the effects. Here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htnpErW12HY
