It was pretty clear up to a certain point that Vought would have cast aside Homelander if they needed to and put someone else there. Homelander comes and goes, Vought's evil stays.
Only problem is that it's just what Vought is telling Homelander, because the guy only cares about his fanboy numbers. The moment he (trump) understands that he does not need Vought (the Republican party) to retain his popularity with a certain demographic (MAGA), Vought is done for. What can they do to Homelander physically to stop him from destroying the organization?
Just like there is no Vought without Homelander at this point (not the other way round), there is not Republican party without trump. In both the fictional and IRL cases, the creation is now more powerful than the creators.
The Boys is genuinely one of the better, modern, and relevant satires and commentaries of our time. Never felt especially preachy but it really touched on the current social and political climate without apologizing for being honest about what the problems are. Poked some fun at woke agendas but also far-right.
Hope to see more like it. I could see WH40K doing as much, but it'd need to be subtle.
Right wingers would just assume that the show/movie is supporting their views, you know, just like what they thought about Starship Troopers (instead of mocking them) or how they did not understand that Homelander is the bad guy.
Writers clarifying that there are female members of a faction in a fictional universe, just never explicitly mentioned.
Should just add more screen time with the Sisters of Battle and Sisters of Silence factions instead of pretending that the Astartes are mixed gender, when they are explicitly emotionally stunted genetically modified asexual males.
I’ve heard a lot about Warhammer going woke the last few days, I still haven’t heard the original statement that caused all this but yes it sounds like some people are trying to change the lore and universe to fit in their ideals. I’m still hopeful that the upcoming Warhammer series will be great and a good thing for the hobby but I wouldn’t be surprised if they mix in some lgbtq2s+lmnop to appease a bunch of people that aren’t even interested in the game or franchise.

Good thing the I did not by Guardians of the Galaxy during a Steam sale, as it was given away for free on EGS the very next week. Tried it, deleted after a couple hours - just a noisy mess.
As for actually good linear games, I'll add SOMA and Metal Hellsinger to the list.
The first games combat was a bit of a mess when fighting 2+ enemies at once. Looking at the trailer, it seems that this time you will be fighting 1v1 while a bunch of other enemies are just standing around waiting for their turn, which is a weird way to solve the issue.
So, what I understand from this thread is that the anti-wokes just want devs to recycle the same shit year after year and sell it as a brand new product.
What's wrong with changes in a positive direction? Plus, if the next game will be a sequel rather than a new reboot, it would make sense for Lara to stop doing the same shit, because she was raiding tombs to beat the bad guys, and the bad guys have been dealt with in the last game.
