According to the BBC and Guardian's websites that fact that the CMA has blocked the merger means that it cannot go through at all. They cannot merge in other countries and not in the UK.

This from the BBC website:

"To go through, the deal has to be approved by regulatory bodies in the UK, United States and European Union."

Not too sure about the law and the legal side but this reads if one of three say no then it is dead in the water until they say yes.

There is a loophole around this. MS just has to setup an entity to handle Activision games in the affected areas and they can stil make the deal go through.

Even if this deal doesn't go through (which as I have said in the past I don't care either way), I think the relationship between ABK and Sony has been severely soured and it will take a whole lot more $$$ for ABK to make something exclusive or timed exclusive towards Sony

Here’s a thought, use a few billion and invest internally - they have the most amount of studios as it is. It’s always been an management problem, throwing money at the issue isn’t the answer

Should this deal fail (which it will) I believe there’s a 3bill dollar payout to ABK by MS - I.e. it will be business as usual for Sony and activision. I’m sorry you’re so upset by this news
