Hmm if you think you know how we think. That's pretty much downplaying any sense of individuality a particular forum has. Interesting :|CIoud_S

OT is easily the funnest board to do my duty in...bwaaaaaaaahahahahahaa.

Seriously...I don't get a kick out of it...just a lot of shaking my head in disbelief....and then I'll be like I'm in the movie hackers and pressing random buttons BANG BANG BANG....POOF POOF POOF.....destroying that garbage file.

So, no fixed WYSIWYG editor? :( jaydough

Not my area....of course, if I go crazy because of something I'll be beaming at the devs here. :)

You all are funny.

Things are still being worked out to how I'll be helping. My focus will surely not be as great as it was when I was the sole admin w/ a team of mods putting a beat down on you troublemakers. :)

There's the philosophy/process I had at running things when I was in charge and then there's the philosophy the team has today....question is where can we find a good balance becasue I'd just start cleaning house if, after giving times giving a good look at the trends on here, it was necessary. I'd be fair in it all, but I've been around game forums for over a decade, launching and/or running a couple of the largest / most well-respected (at least a a time) ones that have existed....I know how you all think. I know that it'll be impossible to make everything perfect...but we can at least go in a direction to make the quality of discussion valuable.

Everyone can sit here and flame the mods...but modding is not as easy and in a lot of ways not as fun as you think...

Mods are held in higher regard and need to follow the rules more strictly.
Mods are often called out for being on someone's side when there are debates, no matter how fair he or she is being.
Everyone thinks mods should devote their life to being on here moderating....rediculous.
Everyone acts like the response from a mod should be like a robot...automated and calculated. Sorry, a lot of personal judgement goes into making mod-decisions...the challenge is for the admin to choose mods whose decisions will have a fair balance overall.
Mods are expected to be perfect, which no one is.
I could keep going ...and going....and going.

Anyhow, I am not taking over the boards...just coming into help out. How much is TBD.

Do you got any plans in store? updates and the like?Premier1101

And plans/updates are out of my control. Back then I coordinated it all because the boards were run using a 3rd party service for awhile, but these days everything is inhouse and the inhouse teams is responsible for all the updates.

Oh geeze, not going back to the Lithium boards...

Anyhow, for those of you wondering who the heck I am....I'm Dave.

I was the admin when the boards relaunched years back.

I was the sole admin. Of course I had moderators to help.

But it consumed my life and my main job (Senior Producer for GSLive...prob the only person you never see on camera. I'm Mr. Mystery lol. I'm one of the original two people who launched the team in 2000.)

So we hired someone to take over.

I've been pretty much MIA since...

But I am coming back, at least temporarely, to help with things here on these boards.

I am fair.
I am swift.
Let's have a good time, shall we?

BTW, don't expect it to consume my life again. Too busy in life....side projects, engaged, have a kid, etc. But you'll see me around here plenty...whenever I can!

There's a couple ways of trying to play it in MPC.

1. Load it once in your regular Windows Media Player. The codec should automatically download. It actually might give an error the first time it tries to play in your WMP after the codec has been downloaded (thanks MS!), but close your WMP and re-open it and hopefully it'd work. With that, the codec will be installed and you can use MPC.

or

2. Download and install the Windows Media Format 11 SDK (URL Below), which is essential a download with a help file and a bunch of sample pieces. Won't harm your computer. When you install this, it installs the Windows Media 9 Advanced Profile (VC1) codec. I imagine if you uninstall the SDK afteryou are done installingit, the codec will stay in place.

I often use MPC myself, so don't think there's any hating going on. We do our best to please everyone, but when you go offbase from what the mass-market uses some issues are bound to come up from time to time. Luckily, things can still be worked out so you can indeed watch WMV9 Advanced Profile movies in MPC. And apologies for the late response.

The version of the full press conference ont he site right now is derived from a direct-to-file archive of the live stream from our live webcast. Because of logitical issues, we got setup and started a few minutes into the press conference. We did our best to get setup and going as fast as possible, but still started a tad late. Nothing important was missed and needless to say, we were still running far in advance of anyone else who was(only) webcasting.

With that, we got the whole press conference on tape(in HD!) andpublishedit last night. It's split into three parts and can be accessed from many gamespaces, including the Killzone 2 gamespace.

http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/killzone2/media.html

I need to figure out why filesize for the H.264 for part 1 is so big, though. Should be like half the size it is.

For those of you who have issues with it having not be re-encoded this long. From the very beginning we wanted to provide it in full and in HD (to subscribers). HD video takes an enourmous amount of time to encode. The plan was to let it encode to HD (since we recorded to it to tape in HD) overnight. But our venue's power was shut off every night after a certain time and this was something we could not control. So instead, we focused on getting the meat of the press conference up on its own (the trailers, demos etc) and for the full press conference, we thought it was better to not worry about thecouple ofminutes of the conference being cut off, nor the audio being out the first minute or two as there was absolutely nothing important talked about or shown at that time. We tried our hardest to get the HD version done Friday as things slowed down but we realized that there wasn't enough time as our power was to be shut down at 6:30pm (just 20 minutes after the last stage show with Rock Band!). So that's when our producers took their HDmachines back to their hotel rooms in the attempt to get encode them overnight. Beyond that, further logistical issues forced us to wait until we were all back inSan Francisco to take care of it. We are back, and our people have beenworking since to make sure it gets up.
