Yeah, I seem to be having the same problem. I can see some other users' avatars but not yours (Davyvfr) or my mine. I looked in some other threads and I can see some but not others. I cleared my browser cache to see if the ones I could see were simply cached and if they would all disappear but that didn't seem to matter. After that, I was able to still see some of them. Mine was an animated gif if that could possibly make any difference.

OP sounds really silly in his post.  He puts down pc version because it a port.. therefore, worst case scenario you're playing the same game on better hardware.HunterSC
There's nothing silly about that. Better hardware doesn't necessarily mean a better experience. Ports can be bad even for good games. Without the resolution, having the engine locked to the same resolution as the Xbox version pretty much defeats any hardware advantage and if you're expecting a typical Keyboard+Mouse experience, things don't sound so rosy for the PC (I haven't played it yet myself).

Huh, I guess that's pretty clear. I'll never understand why publishers do what they do. The Freedom Edition is basically the same thing and it's being sold in Europe for the PC so I don't know why they wouldn't sell a version in NA. Are we Americans just cheapskates? ;-)

I guess I'll just have to order The Freedom Edition from the UK.

But only the XBOX and PS3 versions as far as I can tell. What about the PC version?

Does anyone know if any of the special editions of AC3 will be available for the PC in the U.S.? Neither Gamestop nor Amazon currently have them as available although the Limited Edition version is available for the XBox and PS3. It looks like the Freedom Edition (which I think is the same thing as the Limited Edition) is available from gamestop.co.uk:

And if you want contrast, look at what CD Projekt RED did with The Witcher 2. They started with a PC game and then later released it for the XBox. They completely revamped the XBox version to be optimized for that platform including a total redesign of the controls (at least so they say...I can't speak for myself). Oh, and by the way, they added new content during that process and gave all that new content to the PC users for free. That's how you show your customers respect.

This version was made because enough people signed a petiton.  From Software has never made a PC game before and Bandi Namco didn't give them much of a budget.  It's a miracle they got the game to look and play like an exact 1:1 replica of the console versions.

I definitely believe that they deserve some slack because they never really promised anything other than what we got. They sort of said, "Well, we can give you a PC version but it's just going to be a simple port so take it for what it's worth". I think where we can cry foul is for A) the people who just bought the game without knowing that and B) the $40 price tag. That's too high for a game they just tossed out there without putting much effort into it.

The think I'm having trouble believing that there is a fan-made mod that mostly fixes these problems. If the fix was easy enough for some fan to make it then why couldn't the developers themselves who are vastly more familar with the product than anyone else already have made the same or better fix? Are they that incompetent?

You know, I play a lot of older games that don't look so good that I really like. So maybe if I just accept ahead of time that it's going to look like an older game, then maybe I can enjoy playing it.
