A legitimate Max Payne movie without Mark Walburg would be up on my list along with:
Dead Space
Metal Gear Solid
Bioshock
Mortal Kombat remake
Hitman remake
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I have no idea how anybody would go about doing a MGS movie while remaining true to the source material. Way too convoluted for a 2-2.5 hour movie.
For as great as Bioshock is and as interesting a movie it would make, the strongest elements of its story and presentation are suited for interaction, not observation.
Dead Space? Yeah, I can see that happening.
Others: Uncharted, Deus Ex, Shadow of the Colossus, and Assassin's Creed (proposed release for 2014).
Assassin's Creed especially needs to be made into a movie (sans the godawful ending)charizard1605
Why would people want movies of games? So many are so epic and cinematic that they are basically interactive movies. I can see why someone would see James bond (back in the day) and go "oh man I wish there was a game like that!?" which is basically saying I want a game with this gameplay and this movie just reminded me of it.
I can totally see a Mario Kart movie made by Michael Bay. They should use Fast & Furious as inspiration, I'm sure it'd be a box office hit. Especially with Mario as the starring male character, and Luigi as the starring female character.
Assassin's Creed especially needs to be made into a movie (sans the godawful ending)charizard1605And the godawful everything else?

Sony Domination Continuation. They've dominated the gaming industry, now they're headed for hollywood :o.
[QUOTE="goblaa"]This. Yeah, probably. The best thing they could do is turn the basic concept into a movie, but actually adapting the games? lolno.None. Games have awful stories.

Yeah, no.Most of the video game stories are much more creative than what hollywood has been reashing out lately

F*ck no. That game took so many of the most basic elements from much better crime drams, and missed consistently. And I sincerely doubt a complete tool like Vito Scaletta is going to inspire some sorrow from a movie going audience that has dealt with vastly superior crime drama stories.
- Mafia II, I can honestly see people crying in the ending.

Heavy Rain was all about the choice you make in the story, so I don't think it would make a good movie.

Well, to be fair, I could see Shadow of the Colossus as a movie if done right. Everything else, no.
Shadow of the Colossus' best attributes come from its interactive nature. Turning it into a film wouldn't come close to replicating what you feel as a player, because what's actually being told is pretty bare bones and simple.F*ck no. And I sincerely doubt a complete tool like Vito Scaletta is going to inspire some sorrow from a movie going audience that has dealt with vastly superior crime drama stories. Plus that genre has been beaten to death and beyond.[QUOTE="RageQuitter69"]

What video game stories are much more creative than Hollywood? I mean, how are stories centered around shooting, slashing, or racing inspiring more creativity? And why are you just poking Hollywood films? They may earn the most, but they're a small part of the wider film community. What happens when video games go up against the Cannes Official Selection? Video game stories have generally always sucked. And the ones that don't, people hardly ever take notice.[QUOTE="Liquid_"][QUOTE="PannicAtack"]Yeah, no.FrozenLiquid

The Longest Journey is actually one of the few games that would have potential to work as a film ...granted,they got a competent screen-writer/director that's actually serious about making a good film.

And even then, they'd have to seriously retool the presentation so as to not make it a movie full of talking heads lol. There's others though, like Syberia which would work as a fascinating fantasy/adventure movie. In terms of shooters, I've always taken a liking to Call of Juarez 1 & 2, especially the second one with the three main characters on the road to hell.This. The only one I can think of that would be good is To The Moon or possibly Stalker or The Witcher.None. Games have awful stories.

As much as people loooove to mock Hollywood as the epitome of creative bankruptcy, the thing is a lot of the mainstream films and stuff? They actually know how to tell stories. Folks in Hollywood know how to do things like character development, consistent plotting, exploration of a theme, and all the things that go with telling a good story. How many video games can make that same claim? Can you honestly say that the stories in the video game industry, as a whole, are on the same level as a lot of films that have come out in the past few years, like The Social Network, True Grit, or Hugo? How many video games can you honestly claim are on that level?
