My DualSense is already disintegrating. What has been your experience with the new controllers?

I do not know what kind of luck i've been getting with Playstation controllers, but we're only a month since launch, and i am not just having an issue with the DualSense, but two issues.

First, about a week ago, my left analog stick began to mess up. When fully pressing straight forward, it registers as if i am barely pressing forward, which makes your character walk instead of run (demon's souls). Was getting this when the analog stick is perfectly centered and all the way pressed forward. I blew some compressed air into it, and for the last four or so days its been working fine. What i don't understand is how exactly could this be happening this quickly? My controller is as clean as new, wtf!?

The second issue is not something i was able to *repair*. Left click of my touch pad is f*cked. Press it as many times as you'd want, its not registering. Completely dead button, and it died in a little bit over a month 🙃. Now i am not sure what to do. I don't want to return the console, obviously, but at the same time, i don't think Walmart will replace just the controller. This is messed up.

Have any of you been getting any issues or am i the only one cursed?

My Dual Shock 4 is running great still its my main on PC. I dunno where people are having issues. I used the same controller the whole gen. Sony quality is just thru the roof.

My xb1 controller it feels cramped it feels small it feels like garbage and I Heard the x-series x controller is even more smaller and tight...wrong direction man.

I don't have a Ps5 but seeing as the analog sticks are supposedly the same as the ps4s I can respond that I've never had any issues with them since 2014 (when I bought the system).

It seems to me you might just have incredibly bad luck.

The new Xbox controller is the same size as the xbox one controller and 10 time better than the crappy Sony controllers. It even looks better.

My DualSense works totally fine after a month. Ask Sony for a replacement. It's a warranty period, so a new controller will be sent to you in about 3 days for free.

My DS4, however, had a problem that the D-Pad malfunctioned for a while after purchase, but since it was within the warranty period, I replaced it smoothly and free of charge, and since then, the replaced DS4 has no problem for more than 5 years.

Told you. But noooo, you simply have to get a non quality tested console at launch only to play a remake Demon's Souls..

I knew what to expect, but this isn't even an issue of the console, but the controller. I've had plenty of problems with DS4 as well, launch or not.

Well that's crap, I really hope it was just a stroke of bad luck for your part ( :(), I have two "launch" controllers... :P

Edit: Both of my DS4s still work btw.

Should just stick with Sony's first party games, there's hardly any gameplay, it should last the whole gen that way :)

Most likely will. Want to contact my local Walmart to see if they could replace just the controller first, tho.

I did notice input lag while playing doom eternal on my PS5. Didn't play it on my ps4 before, so i put it in my ps4 to try.... and no input lag. Hopefully things get better in that regard.

Still covered by warranty, I would assume?

These things are mass manufactured, some of them are bound to malfunction. Just happened to you is all.

Wrong. He's actually the only honest Sony fanboy on this forum.

@ProtossRushX: The ps5 controller has gotten bigger, and is now the same size as the Xbox controller. Your DualShock was smaller, and yet you got “cramps” on the bigger Xbox controller because you thought it was smaller. 🤥

I can't prove that a complete stranger on the internet owns a PS5. Pretty sure you know that already.

I instead took into account that this guy has expressed great fandom for Sony for a long time, and it would be seriously fucking weird if he just pulled a 180 and tries to make Sony look bad out of hatred with a fake controller issue thread.

He's also easy to talk to, responds with more than just a few words and generally seems like a legit person, as opposed to you ignorant Sony fanboy trolls.

Sometimes things don't work out. Mine has been perfect, no issues. You're within the warranty period though so should easily be able to get a new one. I don't even think I would have bothered with the compressed air.

The touchpad on mine is wonky. Like it's not seated properly and I get a weird crunch when I press it on the right side. Still works though.

Other than that it has been okay.

@hardwenzen: Did you buy the insurance? All electronics comes with plans at most places including Walmart. Furthermore, did you keep the receipt. If so, you should be able to take it back and excahnge it for a working controller.

It doesn’t matter how long a product has been on the market for there’s always going to be the chance of getting a defective one, that’s just the way it is. Just contact Sony and get a replacement. Pretty sure that you don’t have to send the whole system in.

You mentioned left click of the touch pad. The DualShock 4 touch pad was just 1 button. The DualSense touch pad has multiple buttons on it?

I've been trying to repair my original Xbox controllers, and finding quality joystick modules (the part the joystick plugs into) seems to be quite the challenge. I wonder if the manufacturers of these are just making a worse product.

Or is this just bad luck? I dunno, but it sucks.

The only issue I've had was where the X button wasn't registering properly in Astro.

It resolved itself once I restarted the controller. I've had no issues since.

^This. Your controller probably has a 90 day warranty (1 year if it came with the system) so I'd recommend using it ASAP.

No problems with the DualSense so far. If you are part of the very unlucky few that received a defective console or controller, use warranty and get it replaced for free.

Maybe take it easier on your controllers? I haven't had issues with controllers since I broke a PS3 controller when I got pissed on an online match. With how much they were costing, I put an end to that behavior rather quick. It's your money though.
