Well if they had launched earlier with cheaper models sans Blu-ray, I'd most likely own a PS3 instead of a 360 right now.
Unfortunately Sony's overpriced, underwhelming movie format was more important to them.
Maybe FRD had such a hard time getting their engine up and running on the PS3 hardware that they've spent the last 6 months just trying to get it running in a playable state.
If it were 360 exclusive they could have gotten the technical hurdles out of the way quicker and spent the last 6 months adding a few new obnoxious battle cries instead!
Nah just kidding, the game looked rather bland for a while now, it was going to flop no matter what console it was on.
Actually I enjoyed the new level of realism in GTA IV. I feel like Saint's Row is more of an unrealistic continuation of the GTA games from last gen, which is just fine because its also a ton of fun and I look forward to the sequel this summer.
Between the two games I think they have the urban sandbox genre covered. GTA IV brings the realism and atmosphere to a new level, but Saints Row continues the arcade feel of previous GTA games and offers a ton of crazy, over-the-top activities and gameplay.
I'm satisfied with it, plenty satisfied, but thats me not you.
Depends on how much realism you desire. Its certainly more realistic in a lot of aspects compared to past GTA games, the driving feels less arcadey (you can't whip around 90-degree turns at full speed anymore), if you just try to run across the road haphazardly you can get in some pretty serious (and potentially hilarious) car accidents thanks to the new, excellent physics. Combat actually requires using cover. Pedestrians and the overall feel of the city is more realistic in general. You have friends you need to keep in contact with and hang out with now and again if you want to keep them as good friends, although its really not necessary to the story, you can blow 'em all off if you want.
However, in some ways the realism is reduced. Generally speaking, escaping from 3-star wanted rating is easy as pie, although occasionally time consuming (less realistic but I actually like this as I couldn't stand 3-star or higher in previous GTA unless I was just messing around). Sometimes minor crashes in a car send your vehicle flying through the air, the physics wonk out every now and again. Also, be aware that even the smallest trees in the GTA universe are still made out of solid diamond, you can fly through light poles and mail boxes like they were cardboard but trees are still unyielding.
Sorry for the length but I felt like being thourough. I'm probably biased but I would say absolutely, buy this game. It feels much more realistic overall, the missions are less frustrating (though also less varied), great story, solid gameplay mechanics, fun multiplayer, etc.
I have a feeling KZ2 will feature very standard, run-of-the-mill FPS gameplay. I really believe its main draw was supposed to showcase how the power of the PS3 could take visual presentation to the next level. However, there are already a ton of games out that have done this.
KZ2 could have been spectacular had it been ready in time for the PS3's launch (or shortly thereafter). However by 2009 it will be "just another shooter" in a genre that has already achieved extremely high standards this generation.
I could be completely wrong, but thats just my gut feeling right now.
Just throwing this out there, but what would everyone's reaction be if they remade VC, but with IV's mechanics?Verge_6
Oh HELL Yeah!.... well that would just be my initial, gut reaction. :P
Just because GS scores are the "official" scores we use on System Wars doesn't mean we can't have a laugh at scores from other sites. It doesn't suddenly make their scores "official".
Actually, this whole talk of having "official" scores to use on a forum is silly nonsense anyway.
I assume you are talking about component, where the video signal is divided in to a red, green and blue cable.
It looks just fine. My friend has a projector that does 1080p over component, projected on to a 110" screen, and component looks absolutely beautiful. He actually prefers it to the HDMI, although that could just be that he had some strange hassle getting the HDMI to work smoothly among the 360, projector and his reciever.
