@logic743: Of course 10s are time sensitive. What did you think? Forget BOTW and MGS5, those are still new and modern and both deserve 10/10s in 2022. Lets go further back in time.

if GTA IV launched in 2022 as is it wouldn't even get an 8/10. If Chronocross (from 2000) launched as an a full price game in 2022 it would probably get 6/10.

Standards will obviously increase. Ocarina of Time, which has a 99 on metacritic, would be mid 70s indie trash if it released in 2022 instead of 1998

TLOU2 and UC4 came out in two different decades though.

@johnny0779: Even though the 20s has only just begun, Deathloop is not even in the top 5. by next year Deathloop won't even be top 10. So far The Last of Us 2 is game of the decade. Elden Ring, GoW: Ragnarok, LoZ: BOTW2 etc will score highly too.

@ps5gamer: Because people like me have finite amount of time to game, and only play masterpieces. This year had 0 (ZERO) masterpieces, instead we got a dozen decent games.

in 2020 we got 3-4 masterpieces PLUS ta dozen decent games. I have yet to complete a single 2021 title. My time this year went to replaying older games for the 2nd, 3rd and even 4th time.

The Last of Us 2, Persona 5: Royal, God of War, RDR2, Zelda:BOTW, Mario Odyssey etc all scored higher than FH5.

@peterroberts123456: This is exactly what a remaster is.

A remaster is the same graphics of whatever generation you are taking from, output and the standard resolution of the generation you are taking it to.

In this case, they bumped the games up from 720x480p/30fps to 3840x2160p/60fps.

So roughly 16 times the resolution and twice the frame rate.

If it was a remake it would look like GTA 6.

This one here is actually worth while. I never played the original KOTOR on PC, so will love to experience this excellent remake :)

@JSein456: Seriously? There's lots to update.

2K/1080p --> 3K/1440p --> 4K/2160p just for starters. that alone requires 2-4x compute power.

Then 30 fps --> 60 fps is another factor of 2.
