I just don't get all the GW2 love.

For one thing I think that skills based off of weapon choice is just crappy. Feels very limiting to me and for the life of me I can not see why people would like this.

It allows you to adjust your playstyle according to the circumstances. If you're a caster who normally shoots staff beams from afar, there might be some cases where you need to pull a sword out for some slice and dice, and this system allows you to do that on the fly.

And what's fun about gettingxpfor running around taking in the views? I don't get why anyone in their right mind would say...."man I can't wait to to run across the map to that roof over there"....then they make their way up to the top an get theirxpfor looking off the ledge and think..."MAN THAT WAS FUN!!!".

Every MMO I've played gives XP for discovering new areas. If you can give someone directions, it's because you're experienced and familiar with the area.

I also think that while everyone is aching to move the trinity out ofMMOsit really needs to be replaced with another system if some kind. Not just a button mashing free for all with no organized combat that just fell like abeatemup button mashing arcade game.

And regardless of what anyone says there really is not any endgame.PvPis not endgame...sorry but you can do that at aroundlvl2 or something. So what do you do when you hit 80? With only a few dungeons (and no real rewards for doing them) and nothing else there is no reason to try and move up.

If you want less button mashing and more end game, then you're not looking hard enough. There are plenty areas in the game that require a combination of manuvering and battle tactics, and obtaining the end game rewards for any class will take hundreds if not thousands of hours to complete.

The game does it's job at providing a breath of fresh air to a genre dominated by a single franchise for the better part of the past decade, and in many ways advances it a step into the right direction. It's the anti-WoW in just about every way you could make it, and that's precisely what's needed for the lot of people who've been tied to the same system for the past 10 years.

I have tried to like the game....and tried and tried but it's just not happening. I just don't see why people think it's so great.BSC14

I'm surprised there is as much love for GW2 in the forums as it is. The game is amazing, but it's so good I don't even bother to post. The only reason I'm here now is the servers are down for an hour -- an entirely rare occurrence.

MMOs aren't for everyone, but GW2 is as close as it's ever been. If you think there are better fantasy MMOs out there, your subjective opinion is objectively wrong. You haven't found YOUR class yet. You haven't found your niche, your style, or your understanding of how GW2 actually works.

Classes are easy to play, and the game doesn't do a good job of punishing you if you simply press random buttons or use the same few skills over and over. If you play this game like WoW, you're basically trying to hammer a nail using a wrench and then wondering why the wrench maker is so stupid for its inability to fashion a tool to drive a nail into a board. However, eventually when you learn how to use this new tool, it's going to click -- and then a GW2 fan you shall be.

You need to retrain your brain.

Over a month in and the honeymoon is still going strong.

To end my posting chain in this thread, since I'm sick of so much stupidity, you people don't even want this game to become good, besides the fact that you have no clue what you're talking about:

For me, GW2 mechanically is better than WoW. I like the combat more, visuals, environments, questing/heart systems, group interaction, the way the skills are, etc etc etc. I basically think that GW2 is a better overall game compared to WoW, excluding the massive content difference.

With that said, I lasted about 2 weeks before I was completely bored with the game. The worst part about it is I have no idea why. I cant explain it. Its is a GREAT game, I enjoyed it MUCH more than WoW, yet I am back to using Diablo 3 as my RPG relief, and I cant stand D3. -_-

I dont know if the MMO genre just died on me and I simply get bored by it, but as good as GW2 is/was, I have absolutely no desire to go back to it. Either side of the "arguement" above can call me a "noob", but I play games quite a bit so I dont think the issue is that of being a "casual". Maybe WoW just did MMO so well for so long that it will never be fun intil something completely fresh comes out.

I remember when I first played Dark Age of Camelot. I had something like a week-long erection. I miss that feeling when it comes to MMOs.TruedUp

When the controls are at the sweet spot, you can do what you want, when you want and move how you want and with that, all the game then comes down to is your ability to play it in terms of using your class, teamwork and environment to win.
