i've never heard of anything like this. did it happen mid-game or after the control was switch off and then back on? i know with ps2 dualshock controllers that it would calobrate the centre position of the stick as whatever the positions was when first turned on (so if it was pushing up it would think that up was the centre, meaning that when it was really centred it would think it was being pushed down).

i'm no laptop expert by any means but, in order to play those games, i would estimate that a laptop of the required spec would be VERY expensive.
