Having way less powerful hardware than other handhelds that have been around for years.

Haven't personally tried any of the demos, but I am interested to see this tech used by game devs. An NPC that is able to have a unique conversion informed by the world that they live in would be awesome.

A major step backwards.

Let's adopt a healthcare law that was made back when life expectancy was only 40 years

A decision that could only be made by, or supported by, idiots. No two ways about it.

@pyro1245: why exactly would that matter on an older console format??

OpenFPGA is a platform for users to create their own cores which greatly enhances the capability of the system. Analogue provides support for it on their Analogue Pocket, for example.

Just seems like a waste to lock it down to only playing N64 games. Maybe they don't want to eat into the sales of their other products, which is fair enough. I'll just stick with my MiSTer FPGA, and the Analogue Pocket where the hardware is not locked down and there is continual development and support for different consoles/computers/handhelds/arcades.

Shame too. It would be a great platform for community development.

I had a great time with Zelda BotW and ToK.

As much as I want to like them, I just don't find R* games fun to play.

Xenogears would be a good candidate. Classic case of a game not getting near enough resources. The devs actually didn't get to finish it properly. Would love to see a more modern representation of the world and events.

Can't think of any others. Most of the games mentioned here hold up well and I don't think they need a remake.

Oh I'll wishlist anything I think looks remotely interesting, even if it's unlikely I will ever play it.

There are 508 games on my list and the oldest game is Paranautical Activity, added in SEP 2013.

I do love me an action roguelite. There is a non-zero chance I will play it some day, but there are also a lot of good action roguelites to play. Anyone play it? Yay or Nay?

It doesn't support OpenFPGA.

So no, not worth.

Eh. If it's possible I'm going to play it at 60+ fps. I'm not typically a handheld/console gamer tho so it's not really a concern for me.

The only game I played that came out in the last 5 years that didn't have a native options for 60fps is Zelda ToK (and you bet I overclocked my switch to get it running at a smooth 30).

Outside of handhelds I don't agree with the tradeoffs to go below 60fps, and I think newer handhelds will be powerful enough not to require such compromises. (with the likely exception of the New Switch XL 🤣)
