GTA 4. I -still- play this game. Not even the multiplayer, too, just SP. GTA 4 made wandering around a sandbox world fun again.
I really, really hope the expansion packs are good. I'm probably more excited to hear about the expansion than any game announced or displayed at E3 this year.
I think the "just wait" slogan for PS3 is a bit obsolete now, since the PS3 actually has a decent catalog of games now. However it was very fitting back during the first year or so, when most of the anticipated games/features for the PS3 were still far, far away.
Of course, I guess it still applies to Home. I tell ya if Microsoft manages to launch their new dashboard with avatars before Sony and squeeze Home out the door, it'll be sad, considering how long Sony has been hyping Home.
As an action/RPG/FPS hybrid game, it doesn't look too bad.
As a new Fallout game, I'm still pretty disappointed.
If that makes any sense....
Mixed feeling on the Demo so far. Only played through once with the Champion so far. Graphics are mixed, often crude/dull but occasionally excellent. Combat is excited but using the right analog for attacks, I feel like there is some disconnect between my characters actions and my button presses. Felt kinda clunky but not terrible. Levels move almost too fast, I think I was level 6 already after only 6 seperate battles.
Overall I would predict this game to get a 7.5.
However there was one aspect to the demo that drove me absolutely crazy loony insane: WHY are the sound effects in the menus SO DAMNED AWFUL!? Every time I hit the start button, hit the LT or RT to switch pages in the inventory or stats page, or back out of one of those pages, there is a screeching high-pitched sound effect, and it actually HURTS my ears. It sounds ridiculous, but for a game that requires a lot of trips to the menus for gear/stats/skills etc. this is actually a pretty major issue, maybe even a deal-breaker. I'm serious. The game is actually injuring my ears!
Oh yea, GTA IV is not on PC, might wanna fix that.Nagidar
Also if this is a list of AAA, GRAW on PC only scored in the 7.0 range.
I have the fondest memories of Vice City, but GTA IV is creeping up on it. Going back and trying to play some of Vice City's missions again I have forgotten just how #&!^ing frustrating they can be.
Also, although it is not a GTA game per se, I would say Saint's Row ranks right up there as one of the best GTA-style games.
Just make it cheaper and stop having a big gaping ulterior agenda. It really is Blu-ray that blew the PS3 for me, it jacked the price up, delayed the launch, and so far has not proven to be worth the trouble. DVD9 + HDD installations would have sufficed, but Sony wanted to push their overpriced HD movies, and in my mind added technology that just wasn't up to snuff yet.
I agree with Floppy_Jim next gen they should just scale their existing technology.
