Okay--revised / say, as long as ur Rig is rock solid - and u take the appropriate cautions of cooling and voltage etc. - not too much of an issue, I just don't think its necassary to OC these new series CPU's. Atleast not until one has a good reason. I say hobby, cause these folks are just trying to get thier 3dmark scores up, that looks good on papaer, but u dont see any real performance while gaming. Why take the risks of possibly - really damaging ur CPU if u dont get the OC right.. Thats all :)

How's that a load of crap? What greater gain is one going to get by Overclocking that CPU? If I OC my CPU for say - COD 4 / I might get 5fps more?? How is that an advantage to the wear and tear of my CPU? I still get 85frames without OC'ing.

EEEssshhhh--What a dust magnet / I'd need to skip the cans of air-spray and invest in a air-compressor. :)

Suprisingly, Spore isnt all that graphically challanging. It really only requires 128mb vid card / the intel gma950 is on the game box for requirements, so anything equal or beyond that should work nicely.

Overall---why would u need to overclock? It wears down ur CPU faster - u probably wont see any real quality performance boosts during gaming - and u have to invest more into cooling. I have the Q6600 - and running @ stock cooling and stock config. My MOBO has preset OC'ing bios designed specifically for my CPU (ASUS P5E3 Deluxe-WiFi) If in a year or so I begin to see real lag due to my clock speeds, then I'll start doing so. In my opinion, OC'ing is a hobby.

For most part - RAM / I like the Corsair Dominator series or OCZ / Kengston is always a good bet to get ur money's worth.

Depending on the cooling solution, I'd think overclocking would be the similar to the Q6600, although overclocking would be easier with the QX6700 as you could simply increase the multiplier. Only at moments where you really hit the maximum for the FSB would the QX6700 be a much better overclocker and you'd need an exotic cooling solution at this point

"QUAD Q6700 10.64Ghz"

sounds like that guy is an idiot

Wartzay
HaHa--I didnt even see that until u pointed it out. 249-quid equals out to around $500 US. For that price I want to choose my own MOBO and RAM. What he's got there isnt a bad deal - but there are better boards and RAM out there for the price.

Yeah-u should be good. Probably wont be able to max the settings, but the game will still run atleast medium graphics @ 1400 res.
