side.

Tried back for a long time but honestly it just makes me so uncomfortable. Even after losing weight, it feels weird.

Plus you can't spoon your anime body pillow if you sleep on your back.

Normal people often do care about authenticity.

I have a common sense centrist apolitical (and correct) approach to this. Normal people care more about quality of the art than the ethnicity and gender of a fictional character. Most of these normal people don't have political brain rot. We know this fact by the varying degree of reviews in movies and tv shows that do this.

A shitty show has race/gender swaps and it does bad. (Rings of Power, Ghost Busters)

A good show has race/gender swaps and it does well. (Avengers, Dune, The Boys, X-Men 97', House of the Dragon, Dead Pool, Loki).

A well written season of show X with race/gender swap does well. A poorly written season of show X with race/gender swap does poorly. (Witcher)

Quality is what matters most, by far. While Fallout didn't swap any characters since it's a new story, it featured a female and black as main characters, with a good dose of anti-capitolism. Some cons totally flipped out over this, but in the end none of that mattered because it was kinda good.

Ella Purnell Dismisses 'Woke' Criticism Surrounding Fallout (gamerant.com)

No you really don't.

The quality of the art always suffers when agenda comes first. It won't necessarily make it bad but it will almost always make it worse. In the case of Rings of Power and Ghost Busters progressive agendas took priority over everything else.

Now lets look at the shows you acknowledge as good.

Avengers had one race swap but considering Nick fury was based off the Ultimate comic version which was released in 2001 I'm not sure if that even counts. Compare that to Eternals where they race/ gender swapped half the cast? It failed miserably.

The original Dune was so terrible outside of the cult following nobody noticed.

The Boys is again a niche limited series that most people simply won't notice.

X-Men 97 doesn't have a single race/gender swap.

House of the Dragon is a good show but the race swaps do effectively make it worse. Seeing black people play the " oldest family" in a fictional European nation really makes no sense and seeing a black family with bleach blonde hair looks ridiculous. They are literally the worst part of the show and really the only thing that's wrong with it. It's simply a bad casting and from a rating perspective it is still know where near as popular as Game of thrones so the audience did seem to have a problem with it.

Deadpool had one minor race swap. Again a bad casting in an otherwise great movie.

This is what leftist do. They put as much agenda driven content as they can get away with and if the movie is still good they will say " see it doesn't matter" ! That attitude is exactly why they tried to get away with shit like " rings of power" , " Little mermaid" " Eternals" " The Marvels" etc... yet when they went all on on progressive agenda the shows tanked miserably because now evem the normies are aware of what's going on.

So what it boils down to is that you simply don't want black people in your favorite shows/movies. Gotcha!

They point to failures and say "See? I am vindicated!" why ignoring successes or things no one cares about, all the while saying how little they care about race until an opportunity to care in their way presents itself.

They also seem to believe that these concepts are mutually exclusive, or can't be held together at the same time. You can put forth an agenda and be a authentic or quality. X-Men was quite literally created to aid the civil rights movement of the 1960's, and is one of the most successful comics of all time to the point it can be considered American mythology.

This explains the constant, crippling cognitive dissonance that conservatives and worse experience these days. "No...NO NO NO! This can't be good! They changed this character's race, therefore it serves an agenda I disagree with! ARRRRRRGH MY BRAIN! It's....GOOD?! NO IT CAN"T BE! I REFUSE TO BELIEVE IT!"

I should probably get on Reddit or something...

Just don't come to the Steam Forums. The whole place has been invaded by /btards over the past two years.

That's because Reddit is for libtards, when twitter went X libtards increased thier migration to be reditards. /btards moving to steam forums makes sense, they aren't going to post on reddit with the Twitter refugees, probably get banned lol

Interesting. I don't spend much time on Reddit but my experience with it has that it has always been pretty moderate. Then again when folks on "/r conservative" are talking about what a lost cause things are for them, I guess even that is liberal? We've sort of lost our zero-point, I'm afraid, to base these things off of lol.

No politics... I think. Or maybe that change is older.

No politics unless it's Trump

Can't ban Trump as a topic, loose too much traffic lol

Yeah I do get kind of tired talking about Trump when there are so many other people out there to talk about. But we can't now...

...just Trump 😋

If Trump broke the law, he should face justice. Whatever reason these trials are brought up is irrelevant. There is no bad reason to let justice prevail.

@MirkoS77: Considering how badly Trump botched the COVID response. I would hate to see him in charge if H5N1 takes over.

I would hate to see him governing at all, much less in charge of any crisis. I thank my lucky stars nothing like 9-11 happened on his watch.

Yup, a scary thought.

As far as the law, I agree with this. If not simply as a basic execution of laws, crime, and punishment, but also in establishing an important precedent of being able to hold our politicians accountable for their misdeeds.

If this means we get to go after Bush, Obama, and Clinton...then I am game for that. Hold them all accountable.

Other nations do this, other democracies; why shouldn't we?

This website has changed hands many times in the last few years and gone through many regressive changes. It's basically a website for ads these days, with the community slowly being strangled to death. Honestly I'm only here because I'm old and don't like social media and this is quite literally the only place I post anything on lol.

I should probably get on Reddit or something...

@horgen: Have we had any political board removed?

Yeah, less than a year ago they closed the Political Gamers board.

They've allowed one or two threads in Off-Topic just so we can stay current and discuss it, but it really killed a lot of traffic here lol.

I mean, I get it; Political Gamers got pretty toxic, but I don't think it really got that bad. It was certainly a good place to have some fun, get into squabbles, and even gain some insight into other folks point of views. I miss it.

Big mistake to close it but, again, I get it; this is a gaming site.

How could it not become toxic given the state of US politics?

Well you should have banned US citizens instead of closing it!

Geeeeez

@mrbojangles25: You are correct that gamers are too blame and the market is what gamers have sculpted.🙃 Studios close when it is not a viable business. Gamers on forums like these talk about wanting new games but the best selling games are rehashes and sequels. The same apply to games with high accolades, media praise etc. None of that matters if the casual gamers aren't supporting said game. SW and other outlets like these are bubbles of group think. Once you realize this, you just have fun with the common nonsense. The side effect is that some folks believe that these bubbles are a reflection of reality.😂

Oh I know, we are a bubble and a minority. Most people buy a console to play one game year round (CoD, Halo, Madden) with maybe a few other titles sprinkled in. A large chunk of that massive PC gaming community I'm so proud of is millions of moms just playing the Sims or some farming game 😋

But like an old poster once said, if a chocolate factory known for amazing chocolate started selling literal shit one day, and everyone still ate it, isn't it your job to yell from the mountain top "STOP EATING SHIT!"?

😋😂🤣

I know it sounds somewhat fascist but if people don't know of any other way, isn't it our job as citizens to show them an alternative? A choice?

Half-Life: rewrote what the FPS could be. Cinematic without cutscenes, highly immersive. Mods, mods, mods! Also introduced me to online play.

Various turn-based games, but more specifically Civilization, Alpha Centauri, and earlier Total War games.

Various simulations, but more specifically Tie Fighter, Aces of the Pacific, and Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe. Really got me to fall in love with the genre and all it's diversity, from arcade sims to more realistic ones and space and normal flight.

A lot of Blizzard titles, specifically Diablo 2 and World of Warcraft, showed me that "service" based games don't necessarily need to be a negative thing on the industry. They also showed me that a great game, with great support from a developer and publisher, can have a really healthy and long-lived community. Blizzard supported Starcraft and Diablo 2 long after any other company would, and World of Warcraft (despite some stumbles) has had a 20-year success and leads the MMO genre.

Always happy to see one less exclusive as it is a terrible practice, and everyone wins when we get to choose what platform to play their games on.

I'll pick this up on sale at some point for sure. The first (well, the first reboot of GoW) was fun, I liked the story, but it wasn't really all it was cracked up to be. Great for a Playstation/Sony flagship title, not so great when compared to the entirety of what's on PC.

I mean, this is what we deserve. I know this is System Wars and the last thing I want is to make this political or a social/cultural thing, but we vote politicians in that favor corporate and capitalist interests, and put their constituents last, and we continue our backslide into modern-era feudalism.

This carries over into the video games we play, the movies and shows we watch, the news we read, and so on and so forth. Just look at Gamespot; it's basically one giant ad that caters to the trend ticker. "Destiny is trending! SPAM THE DESTINY ARTICLES!"

We own less. We have fewer rights. Art and education are put last while profit and growth are put first, when we could instead find a happy balance of all. Instead of sharing resources and adopting a "rising tide lifts all ships" mentality, we resource guard and say "Well I don't need this, but I don't want you to have it".

TL;DR: We shouldn't be surprised when our politicians don't stop giant companies from gobbling up littler ones, then shutting them down to increase their net worth. This is late-stage capitalism, and until we repeal Citizens United and place politicians in place that favor people and consumer over CEO's and corporations, we don't deserve anything better.

Forget about the national politics, too, and remember to vote state and local! It matters more, arguably!

/end rant. Sorry not sorry.

Sincerely

Comrade Bojangles
Spokesman of the Gamespot Communist Party
